Help us choose a middle name for our daughter.

My wife is due with our first in November and it's going to be a girl. We are having a tough time figuring out a middle name for her. Her first name is going to be Harper. We have it narrowed down to 3 options so go ahead and vote for the one you think sounds best. They all have some meaning to our family. If you have any other suggestions for middle names go ahead and post them.

Check the initials with your last name to avoid anything weird. My rule has always been to use names nobody is going to misspell, so Mae is out. Grace sounds more religious, and to me Rose sounds more British. If any of those are names of rich living relatives, use that one, can't help when inheritance time rolls around.

The amount of porn stars with "mae" in their name would rule that one out for me. Also make sure the full initials don't spell anything she might get teased about throughout school. The other two seem fine to me. Just IMHO of course.

people always comment about the initials, i didn't really consider this when naming my son, he's 13 now in grade 8, his initials are BJS, I've asked him and he said its not something he's teased about... and he's not exactly the most popular kid.

I joked with my husband when I was pregnant that if the baby were a boy, the initials would be JDM.

D has meaning for my family and M is our last name... He didn't find much humor in what I was proposing.
We ended up having a girl and we didn't do a middle name for her.

I personally like Mae the best of the 3, but I have a niece and one of her middles names is Mae so I'm biased.

Something gender neutral so that if, in a few years she starts self identifying as a he, then you can simply drop the first name and start using the middle one.
