Does anyone actually get these on purpose? Most of the vehicles posted are nothing special. So if you get one of these plates on a shitty, or even average car, are you hoping the plate helps you upgrade one day? Or if you are fortunate enough to drive a nice car are you trying to use the plate to brag you have good luck? Or you actually think the plate will help you keep it? Are some people really that superstitious?

I personally assume 99.9% of these plates are handed out completely random and the owners think nothing of them.

I believe the answer is ethnic dependent.

Was on vacation recently, went to a shop to buy a local license plate. The shop was in a touristy area, had to chuckle as in a stack of 50 license plates there wasn't a single one left with an 8 in it.

Do the younger generations still prescribe to this superstition?
