    Unhappy Cat pooping on bed

Our 6 yr old female cat has started pooping on the beds. This happens even after her litter box has been freshly cleaned. Do any of the cat owners here have any experience with this, or suggestions how to fix it?

My wife is from mainland China, I'll ask her to see how she'd handle this...

It is a completely normal poop. She has done it before, but now it has been three times in 2 weeks. After she pooped on our daughters bed for the second time we started closing her door. Today she pooped on ours. Right in the middle of the bed on the comforter, not hidden at all. Everything else seems to be normal.

Did you change the litter type lately? Scented? Usually cats do that when there is something about their box they don't like.

We had this issue when Tidy Cats changed their litter to the one with Frebreeze. We found an unscented one and things were fine for ~1 month. Maybe it is time to try another litter. I am also thinking about getting one of the sprays that is supposed deter this.

yeah cats can be very picky. Even about texture, dust, etc. I had a problem with our cat peeing upstairs in our place. It turned out it was a few things, 1. i wasnt changing the litter frequently enough, and 2. I found out our daughter was being a bit abusive to him (shes 3, shes since knocked it off). Sometimes its variables AROUND the box too. We had one of those automatic spraying febreeze thingys down in the basement, and it was scaring them away from their litter haha.

    All good advice so far.

I even had a friend who's cat starting pooping on the bed after they changed to a new laundry detergent. The cat likely felt that he couldn't cover the new soap smell enough by just rolling around on the bed, so he dropped a deuce.

Took them quite a while to discover that the laundry detergent was the trigger, though, because they had gone through all the other usual reasons.

Cats are assholes, but here are some ideas to try:

    - Add an extra litter box with a completely different type of litter. If you have multiple cats, you should have at least one box per cat, just in case. Some say one per cat, plus one extra. Make sure they're in quiet, private locations and keep them spotless if you're having trouble like this.

    - Either get a good enzyme cleaner or dispose of soiled items. It seems once cats decide they can go somewhere and it gets the scent, they keep going there.

    - Change the laundry detergent / softener you use on the bed.

    - Lock the cat out of the bedrooms. I personally have a 'no animals in the bedrooms' policy and enjoy the hell out of my hair / allergen free bedroom.

    - If all else fails, maybe a vet checkup. Sudden behavioural changes can be a sign of a physical problem.

Or the cat is pissed at you and it's being vengeful by shitting where you sleep.

Our cat did it once while we were away on vacation.

We went out last night and bought a bigger, open litter box to go with the 2 we already had (we have 2 cats so going with the 1 for each cat plus 1 as suggested). I hope that the bigger box will help if she was having trouble because of space. Hopefully that combined with keeping the bedroom doors will fix the problem.

How many house guests come to your house and shit on your bed? This is the reason I got rid of my cats. Once they start fucking up my house, that's it. I will never have a cat again.

Dogs can be trained to not do this, cats usually can too, but ive had this happen with the last 3 cats I've had, they just revert, and I've tried everything from changing food, because vet said to, adding litter boxes, changing litter locations etc etc etc and it still kept happening.

Get rid of them. Your kids will get over it.

And no, our dog doesn't (and has never) done this. And believe it or not, neither do our house guests. Imagine that.
