We did this and a candy bar for under 250 and everyone was happy

We have about 250 people coming to ours, and we are planning to do a small cake for cutting ceremony + 150 crave cupcakes available at midnight snack. We figure not everyone will want one, and if there are any leftovers cupcakes will be a lot easier to take home vs. extra cake

That won't be the only thing at midnight snack

We are going to have dessert at the end of dinner, so we figured it would be a bit redundant to have cupcakes with dinner right after dessert. That's why we are pushing it to midnight with the other snack food... probably pizza.

I'd have to agree with these too. Almost all the weddings I've been at, a lot of the cake goes to waste because people either rush to the dance floor, the bar, or they just don't want any cake but the weddings with the candy/snack/cupcake bars are really popular, especially with guests with young kids.

I has a small reception so we just bought two cakes from T&T and stacked them up on a cake stand my dad made haha We had two different flavours, chocolate and vanilla. Think it was like $80 all in haha, only had 20 people at the wedding though.

Fiance and I chose Whippt as well.

    75-80 People
3 different flavors of "filled" cupcakes and then a single tier cutting cake for the ceremonial "cut"
    Decorations/Flowers/Setup

All in I think it was just around $650 which is pretty decent.

$650 for a basic cake and cupcakes for 75-80 people That seems crazy to me haha.

80 specialty cupcakes of various flavors from Crave or similar - $250

Awesome cake from a good bakery - $50-100

Are they charging you $300 to set the cake up on a table?

Man, I need to get into the wedding business

I went to a wedding last Sept at the Palliser and the groom was hyping up the make your own poutine midnight snack, but i was extremely underwhelmed. The fries were really bad, and the gravy wasn't good. At least they had real cheese curds...

    Weddings. Seriously?

Yet another BS and archaic endeavour that should just go away.

Average Canadian wedding cost? 25 to 30 grand.

Have the wedding in the backyard and put the cash toward something that isn't emotionally inclined.

+1 for Crave Cupcakes. Save your money, guests will enjoy them more.
