Default Have you ever used DIY Braun Cleaning Refill kit?

I have a Braun 790cc that came with a cleaning station. The cleaning cartridges can get expensive (especially since this shit evaporates if left open).

There are some "DIY" solutions, where you just mix isopropyl + cleaning mix (links below) and it will give you a similar solution to the one provided by Braun.

I'm wondering if any of you have ever tried it, and if it's worthwhile? Can any of these pre-mixes be found locally?

The ones I"m referring to are:

I've used the one from CCRefills before, still have half a bottle premixed. Never saw a difference formula wise. The only catch with it is that I seem to never be able to get the cartridge completely clean no matter what I do before filling up with the DIY solution.

Edit:I think I have an extra pack of the peppermint solution if you want to try it out for yourself.

i was almost tempted to just throw some 99% 50/50 mixed with water to see what happens, $10 a cartridge for like 3 cleaning is redonk

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

I just clean it under water, with some natural shaver/cutting oil added after.

Has worked well for 3 years.

Where do you get natural shaver/cutting oil? Braun apparently recommends putting on some "machine oil" but all I can find is sewing machine oil...unless thats what needs to be used?

Btw this is for the cleaning station that comes with the shaver. The cartridge for those cleaning stations is pricey, around $26 for 3 pack.

I have been using shaver shebang for my Panasonic for over a year. Not as good as the original but good enough for a fraction of the cost.

I stopped using the cleaning station years ago. I dont need a shaver to be scented, bleached clean and oiled after each use on my face.

Natural mineral oil should be sufficient.

I've heard about this method but where do you get lemon essential oil?

BTW does the lemon essential oil help lubricate?

yea the lemon oil lubricates the blades. I dump anywhere from 8-15 drops in. Think I picked up a bottle from nutters before, ebay in the past as well. Any health food store usually has it. Pretty cheap this way. plus you can pick whatever essential oil you like.

Figured I’d bump an existing related thread?

Anyone know a CONFIRMED location where you can pick up clean and renew carts locally?

Fucking PIA shaving system, can never find anything locally... Amazon has shorted my order 2 months in a row and I’ve run out.

Just saw them at London Drugs when I was picking up a new foil for my Series 7.

Should also note that in the Airdrie store the shaving section for these shavers is on an end cap near the electronics section, not with the rest of the shaving supplies in the drug store/pharmacy section.
