According to Burke when he was asked about him during the season ticket holder update was that Janko is going to play in Stockton again next season and that they could have received a 2nd rounder for this year if they didnt sign him back in March. But they think he's worth more than a 2nd rounder and that his mechanics are amazing but he needs to work on his hockey speed. Not necessarily skating but things like shooting the puck and passing. Apparently he's slow when making those decisions and alot of times his attempts get blocked.

Assuming the top 5 of Matthews, Laine, Puljujarvi, Tkachuk and Dubois are gone. Who should the Flames select with their 6th overall pick? Don't think they need more defensemen, so likely Nylander or Logan Brown.

Hopefully some trades go down similar to the Hamilton deal Treliving pulled off last year or somehow move into the #3 spot and select Puljujarvi. Lots of rumors floating around...

All I am hoping for is that either a) edmonton trades down with Calgary because they need a d-man and know that at 6 they still get top D pick. Leaving Calgary with Tkachuk

or b) edmonton keeps pick, but acts smart and takes Olli at 4. Leaving Dubois for Calgary.


Nothing wrong with Nylander I just think the two others are a step above and the size would really help the Flames

I'd be fine with either Tkachuk, Dubois, or Nylander to tell you the truth. I'm happy with staying at 6 instead of doing something drastic and stupid to get into the top 4 imho.

Moving up to #3 would at least guarantee Laine/Puljujarvi.

Bishop will be expensive. I like Elliott and to an extent Reimer for no acquisition cost.
Flames should be looking at a stop gap and not a goalie who will still be here after 4 years.

My opinions:

I love Fleury and would go crazy if he came, but sounds like the price is too high, I hope Pit realizes that Cgy is the only team left needing a goalie and that if they don't send him to us, they might not get anything for him. I am not a huge fan of the Bishop deal because of his looming contract - he may not even re sign with us, and if he does I can see him commanding 7.5+/year. I do think Bishop is a great goalie though. I would be happy with Elliot as well. I understand that Reimer might be the smartest thing to do, value wise and he does have good stats, but I just can't get myself to cheer for him.

I would do Backlund + 6th overall for the 3rd overall for sure. I don't think Backlund has much value on his own and getting into the top 3 would be pretty sweet. Although, unless we get Laine at 3, I would rather have Tkachuk than Puljujarvi.

I heard Hamilton to EDM rumour. I hate that deal. I don't care what it is for, I think the guy has huge upside and I would hate to see the guy coming into our barn playing for EDM.
