Default My first time using Zymol Vintage Wax, Porsche 993 Detail

While I've never been brave enough to drop the now $5k required to get my mitts on a cube of this mystical wax of legends, I was lucky enough to have a client this weekend who had already done it for me!

I'm not going to spend the time on a long review, but coles notes:

    - applies incredibly easy once you warm it up in the palm of your hands and then apply with an applicator.

    - hazes exceptionally quickly, so no effing around, you gotta do small sections at a time or it becomes more difficult to remove. I would do one panel, wait 30 seconds or so, and then remove.

    - omg it looks amazing.

    - it doesn't leave gunky crud behind in seams of plastic bits.

A+ would highly recommend... you know someone who has it haha. Seriously though if you have the cash to drop, go for it, it's a spectacular wax. But the every day enthusiast, you're still good with a Collinite paste

Pictures for viewing pleasure. 17 hour detail and polish.

I love vintage been using it for almost 7 years now, unlimited refills is great, might be using a refill this year, One thing I don't like about it is the sweating, but amazing results.

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

What's the curing time for Vintage? I know majority of the hand applied estate wax require extensive curing time (~3 hours+).

Thanks! I generally don't take before pics unless it's a real nightmare. I take some process pics to show the prep that goes into it, like this one

Thanks! Been at it steadily, but kept it as a hobby instead so I maintain the love and quality in what I do.

I mist it after with a cool top coat to drop the cure time from 3 to 1 hour.

Sweating is when the residual oils/solvents continue to evaporate after the wax is buffed off. This is a common behaviour with high carnuba content wax. Usually caused by temperature and humidity change between application period and curing period. This can be formed anywhere on the paint but more commonly on hood and front fenders due to engine heat/cool cycling.

A simple wash or a distilled water wipe down is a common solution for the sweating.

Oh I see I haven't seen that in years. Likely because I apply a pretty thin coat, multiple times over a couple days. I used to get residual hazing only when applying to thick a coat, thus why I switched to using less, but more applications.

BINGO! Vintage will always do this even if you apply a thin coat, just like HiSpec reply, that's why I tend to apply it in morning or previous night and let it sit in sun in morning for one final wipe mid day.
