I'm quite shocked that EU extended the deadline by that long. Thought they'd only give them till May.
imo nothing is going to get accomplished at this point.... another 6 months of yelling at each other

While I mostly agree with you, 1/2 want to exit with a deal that is impossible to obtain. The deal they have is the deal they get. So they either go hard brexit, or cancel brexit. There is no middle ground anymore, the EU took care of that. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think there needs to be an election or another referendum now. Its truly an appalling abandonment of democratic principles, and there should be riots over it, but something needs to change. It makes zero sense to accept the current EU proposal, they'll actually be less sovereign. It's pants on head retarded to accept that deal.
6 months is enough time to have a referendum (or an election) if need be. It also means up to 6 more months of not having trade all messed up and mitigating the effects of a hard Brexit in the EU, which is better for the economies of member states if nothing gets done as well. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Yea they already had a referendum.

When your government is propped up and requires the votes from MPs of places that don't want to leave (or require a certain deal to support leaving), you're not left with much of a choice. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Considering the number of voters that have reached the age of majority since the referendum is larger than the spread between Leave and Remain, one could argue that there is a very high likelihood of the minority forcing its will upon the majority if they do not hold another referendum. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. That kind of mentality, how could you ever enact policy. Better have another election every few months to see if the winds have changed?
People told them to do something, they didn’t do it. And they took their sweet time getting there.
Standard issue government incompetence.

Well they told them to do something, then said something else during the election when they elected a group of people who didn't quite support that. May called the election to have a majority to have smooth negotiations and didn't get it, instead getting people who were elected and told to ensure a deal has them staying in a customs union or having a soft border, etc. So it is taking its time specifically because some MPs are doing exactly as they were told to do by their voters after the referendum. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Regardless of that the government is still bound (or at least should be) by the referendum, and May should just crash out of the block with no deal if she cant get deal-brexit through commons. That way she at least fulfills the directive of the referendum.
That’s always been an option. And seems the only likely outcome.

She didn't have the votes to just crash out of the block, parliament voted for an extension. The EU could have just said no, but they're going to let the UK fight this one out now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If I was an MP elected after the referendum to avoid a Brexit that doesn't have a deal they want, then it's my duty to my constituents to try and do that. Why should I be bound by the non-binding referendum vote in that case?
How much space will be freed up if Britain leaves the EU?

well, this has dominated the headlines in the UK for months, but nothing has happened.

Well, Theresa May's last day as Prime Minister will be June 7th. She's taken a lot of heat for her failure to complete this deal. Unfairly in my opinion, but fairness doesn't matter in politics.
I'm sure the EU will start giving much better deals now that that the UK has shown such a divided front. LOL
Yeah, sounds like the next PM will have a great situation.Originally Posted by BBC newsThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
