It is for watching people play videogames.
Twitch is not necessary in some games. Right now the DOTA 2 international is going on, of which you can watch as a twitch stream or through the ingame rendering which uses far less bandwidth. If you have a top end computer, just use the rendering its better.
Of which I personally never got into DOTA 2 as a player just a casual observer - and it still hard to figure out whats going on. Watching a orange ball go into a hoop is self explainatory (and can arguably get a little boring past the 100'th time you see it) but DOTA 2 is just plain information overload if you've never actually played.
Youtube also seems to be hosting the live streams of DOTA2.

I had a system where I thought I was being smart and using an acronym of the website with the same password so I wouldn't forget and my cyber security buddy said that's just as worthless since the rest is the same, lol. I just keep my actual banking and important ones separate and fuck the rest, IMO
