Default New Work Rig Build thread 1999 Suzuki Carry

So the time has come for a new build thread. Picked up this 1999 suzuki carry db52t a couple months ago now, and have been slowly working on it since.

You may also remember my build thread for the honda beat from before ( http://forums.beyond.ca/st/365543/la...ect-1991-beat/ )

Sorry picture are gone, I'll try to host a couple here of the beat too.

    Some info:

next on the copping block was the muffler.

    OEM vs Wirus win

then the front bumper arrived intact from Japan. I knew it had a blemish on the front driverside, but they were hard to find in near mint condition. These are found onthe sport edition of the van.

Next up was the honda acty sides and rear. Ordered these on a whim, not sure if they would work, or what mods would be reuired to make them work. I wasn't looking for perfection, but just wanted to add to it to make it a bit more pleasing to the eyes on the back end of the truck

While I was at it I decided to order the Every sideksirts to give it a lower feel to the ground effects

You can see in this little bit distant shot that there really isnt much room between rims and skirts in the rear especially and front bumper

    Future plans

Headliner - Think I'm pretty set on this fabric. The truck is for my aquarium maintenance company, so its right for the truck on a few different levels.

ICE- (lol) car comes stock with only am radio, and only has a speaker in the actual din unit. There are spots for two 3.5 inch speakers in the dash, which are currently empty. I've got speakers, just need to find a cheap usb single din for it.

Gauges - I have a bunch of left over autometer gauges from old projects, need to find an oil pressure one, then I'll have voltage, coolant temp, and oil pressure or temp.

Steering wheel - I have an extra 330mm personal wheel from the beat and I have ordered the hub from Japan for it

Seats - Still trying to work these out... I picked up a set of DC2 recaros from my good friends at JDM source that I will be trying to make work. The challenge being space, and access to the engine below the seats.

Also working on some cedar side rails for the box. Gonna be a farm/race truck!

Thought I would share with beyond. Hope you enjoy.

Oh ya.... and an fnf pick of the beat when I showed up late to help a good friend move into his new place.

    Default Goals

Yep. Need to keep it somewhat functional as I actually use it for work. Currentky battling a bad ignition on the truck. Just ordered a bunch of parts and have confirmed its ignition switch. Just need to get in there and drill away four "breakaway bolts ". What a pita.

I've never done an air system, but it seems like it won't be too too hard. Front air struts are bolt in. Rears not so much. Truck currently has leaf suspension in the rear and they only make the air kits for the van version of the truck, which has coil springs in the rear.

So from why I can gather we will have to 4 link the rear and make mounts for the air struts. Think I'll try to get the fronts on myself , mount the tank, compressor... Run wires and airline and then see if I can find a shop to help out with the rear.

Anyone done anything like that for the rear?

    Default photodump update

just a quick update as I have been super busy with work and got a new pup.

    First pic of pup

Second, changed the mirror on truck to that of a suzuki every (power folding)

Then painted bumper, tried three times and could not match paint that well, so theres a new colour of white on the truck... but, its a work truck! Also added air struts and yellow fogs, personal 330 mm.

Comressor and tank are undermounted on bed, behind passenger as well as all valves. meter is mounted low on driverside and simple 3 way toggle switches were added to dash

heres a photo dump including a couple I got from people that were at illmotions sunday school.

So I’ve got a few mins between jobs today so I figured I’d do a bit of an update to this work truck as well as some other kei cars that have come and gone over the years. Will break it up into multiple posts between jobs so will probably update throughout the day.

First off some cars I’ve owned and built during this time .

If you’re an og beyond.ca member you might remember the Honda beat I built ages ago.

I also owned a toppo briefly....

And owned about 4 suzuki altos this one being the best one to show you

I got the bug and bought another Honda beat. Still have this one. It’s away fro winter, but will be back in the spring

And last but not least, I’ve got a couple of kids now and they wanted something they could both go in so I’mported and awd Honda that’s from japan. Lowered it, out some recaros in, and a couple of kids seats.

It’s actually really good in the snow. Pizza cutter tires and Honda’s awd. Since these pics I’ve added mugen wing, and front and rear lips as well.

Next post will be mini truck updates

    Default Mini truck

Here she is in all her glory.

Recently found in auction the super rare hello special body kit. Complete. And after some intense budding, was able to take her home to Canada.

    Went from this....

    To this

Auction included a dual exhaust for it as well. Which I rigged up so I could throw the rear bumper on.

Holy moly . Been a long time since I've updated this ...

Here she is in all her glory

Added a lowered utility decal to it after someone posted it on Reddit and everyone was up in arms that I'd made it useless.

My 8 year old daughter would kill me . She's already picked out what colour she wants the wheels, headliner and steering wheel for when she gets it when she's 16.
