    Default Loud disc brake

I took my bike out for the first time this year and the rear disc is very loud under light to moderate braking. It wasn't like this in the past. The front is fine. I've only had the bike for 3 years and it is very gently used--ridden less than two dozen times, all on the road and bike paths, never through water; stored upright. It's a hard-tail Norco Charger, if it matters.

What could cause this and how could I fix it?

The pads and or disc may be contaminated. If you have some brake clean or Isopropyl alcohol you can spray some on the disc and pads and give them a light sanding with some relatively fine sandpaper to remove any contaminants. If that doesn't work then replace the pads.

I've been a bit busy lately so I haven't had the chance to try this yet, but thanks for the advice. Hopefully sometime this week.
