Not surprised. Last time I ate there the service was terrible. Basically do the minimum and walk away as they know they are getting 16%.

Honestly I typically tip at least that if the service is good anyway.

Not surprising this failed IMO:

1) No incentive for the employees to do above the bare minimum at all times
2) Angering customers who receive poor service (which is encouraged by the business model and likely more common) and wish to tip less, or tip less by default
3) The percentage of customers who were disappointed they couldn't tip more was probably zero or close to zero


Is anyone going to keep tipping 15-20% when minimum wage becomes $15 for normal service? (i.e. the vast majority of service).

Too bad. In Australia and Asia, tipping doesn't exist; just service charges.

I'll likely tip 10-15% instead of 15-20%, which I always thought was too high a standard anyways.

I'm expecting cost of goods to go up relative to the cost of labour, however personally seeing no specific increase in income as a result, therefore likely lowering my tips when I go out.

I haven't changed my tipping practices. I am just a cheap fuck I guess.

0% for absolute shit
5% for the times you can find a silver lining
10% for when times there are hic-ups like nor refilling drinks, or similar.
15% or more for exception service and when the staff go above an beyond.
