Default 2016 Formula 1 British Grand Prix

Looks like the drama never stops for Nico. Already called out by the stewards for going too slow during qualifying. But seems like he wasn't in-lap, so he escaped penalty this time.

I'm sure it's going to be another great race.

Well apparently airing women's tennis on no less than 69 channels is more important to tsn than flicking the switch on one of their channels to re air qualifying as scheduled.

Ah, well it's not working. I just wanted to throw a Let Them Fight meme up. Team orders are for the guy who finishes second!

Rain. Might be a safety car start though, unfortunately.

Safety car start ruined the potential for chaotic strategy. You know it was a fucking dumb decision to have the SC out that long with cars running mandatory wets when 2/3 of the field flew into the pits to change tires as soon as they were allowed.

Drives me nuts these SC rain starts. I dunno if it's a Pirelli issue or what but the SC starts were pretty much mandatory since they became sole tire suppliers.

For those not paying attention to updates Rosberg got demoted to 3rd. 1 point between the 2 now for the WDC.

Pretty text book racing from Hamilton, but the fight for 2nd and 3rd was entertaining. Surprised that Mercedes said something over the radio, especially after the incident where Hamilton was begging them to tell him what mode to put his car into.

In Mercedes defense, the rules state that you're allowed to relay information to the driver to correct a terminal problem. The stewards deemed the settings change and avoiding 7th gear instructions to be within the rules. What Rosberg was penalized on was him asking how to skip 7th gear, where the team confirmed his question. That's what broke the rule.

I think it's a retarded interpretation of the rule, it's all a part of managing the potential terminal failure, and there shouldn't have been a penalty. Regardless, it was a good gamble for Mercedes, 10s penalty and a lost position vs losing a whole lot more points if there was a retirement. Would do it again every single time.

I am biased here. I am a Lewis fan and I think stewards should have thrown Nico out of the race. The problem is I can see Lewis running into similar issue down the road and I am sure if and when he run into this issue if Merc try to radio any message FIA will throw him out saying that we already gave you a warning.

That's a pretty weak opinion, why in the world would radio communication ever get someone kicked out of a race? There are far more egregious violations that result in time penalties or grid place penalties so I believe you are concocting a "Lewis being screwed" conspiracy that just does not exist.

Like I said I am biased here
Why would a radio communication get someone kicked out? It is my understanding that assisting a driver via radio communication is banned.
As for conspiracy theory ... lets see why Merc didn't do the same when LH was in the wrong engine mode ? Also if you look at the history there is more than one occasion where FIA has thrown the book at LH.

That wasn't a terminal problem. That was a performance problem. Both Rosberg and Hamilton suffered from it, both drivers asked for assistance and the team refused to give them any information or confirmation on how to correct the issue.

I know the problem was a Performance problem at the time but LH was going through all the settings which could have caused a major problem. But the bottom line is if they are willing to give instruction to Nico and let him take a 10 second penalty why not take the gamble with LH?

I never thought there was bias treatment in Merc up until this year but ,
    1) Changing the crew
    2) Niki Lauda's comments to the TV
    3) Toto refusing to say who is to blame for the collision in the last race.

Well I am glad how LH is handling all this and let his driving do all the talk.

That 2nd fastest lap doesn't mean anything. Alonso got fresh tires with 12 laps to go and going balls out. All the other top runners were on old tires and managing race pace. Not even a fair comparison.
