Murders happen all the time in the world, and even in this city, and I just shrug it off to some degree as "another one". But when it involves a child, it hits me pretty hard. Having a child around the same age doesn't help, and I can't imagine the terror she must have felt in his last minutes/hours of life.

Very tragic. What goes through someone's mind to be able to kill anyone, let alone a 5 year old girl?

The last place she was seen was at the DQ just a stone throw's away from my house... really hits home.

I have a hard time rationalizing what could make someone justify killing a 5 year old girl. Even gang members typically have the unwritten rule to not harm children. I suspect that drugs were involved somehow in this whole deal. Honestly, stuff like this makes me want to just unplug from social media and the news. My heart goes out to this poor girl and her family.

AFAIK child offenders are kept in separate parts of the prison specifically for this reason and to protect them from other inmates.
