Yup, you got it right. Not actually sure if the 4K box is in circulation yet though, it only just appeared on the website a couple of days ago. Also, for some stupid reason you’re only allowed to have 3 portals per bluesky box, so if you have more than 4 TV’s you need to get two bluesky boxes. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. My order sheet has a 4K bluesky box being installed Thursday, I’m probably an early adopter though.
I’m not super concerned about count as 3 is my max I need, I don’t even really use cable in the bedroom except for the odd hockey game I fall asleep watching.
Honestly I just want 4K for the big ticket sports events when I have a party.

Interesting. I'll keep that in mind. The only other loss (in my mind) would be access to the free Shaw wifi. Which depending on the AP, can be either great or terrible. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Ask friends to add your MAC to their account? I think each account can have 10 devices? I added mine to my parents account a few years back, but I haven't tried Shaw Wifi to see if its still working haha. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Does Shaw Go WiFi count towards my bandwidth usage?
No. Although devices that have been authenticated and signed in are subject to our Acceptable Use Policy – Internet. At this point in time, Shaw is not counting data consumption over Shaw Go WiFi as part of the monthly Internet package data allowance.
Hrm maybe I’m thinking Telus. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Someone at Shaw told me the same thing but I never question him. May be they change the stance since Freedom now supports wifi calling and they want traffic diverted out of the cell network. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My god shaw's customer service is fucking slow. Trying to reach them by chat right now. It started at 10 mins went down to 5 mins back to 11 mins and finally started going from 1min to 30 seconds to on hold for an agent and then suddenly the cancelled the chat before it started and told me to email them. FUCK you shaw - all I want to do is cancel my MIL account because we dont need it anymore.
AFAIK you need to call them to do that anyways...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
But yes, it's really slow. Used to be much better until they decided to consolidate their front line CS staff a few years ago.
In online chat yesterday they offered me 150 internet for $84/mo if I renewed for two years. Might switch to bluesky TV too. My parents have had it in the states through Comcast for a couple years now and it’s pretty sweet.
...
On our June bill they offered 150 for $85/mo for the next 12 months (no contract). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Hopefully they'll offer something better when I call in or I'm thinking of drop them (Internet, TV and phone) and going with Teksavvy again for $69.95/month.
We've had Telus fiber installed for more than 6 months now but they still haven't lit it up (over 2 year behind) it would be nice to be able to jump back and forth for these "Only for New Customer" deals...

This is what I did. Bluesky is pretty good if not gimmicky. I think it’s an entirely new system so Shaw is getting really aggressive on moving people over. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Equipment is very fast which I like compared to the last ten stuff which was slow as balls.
I’m just really hoping that their 4K rollout isn’t just talking out of the side. Of their mouth.

I called in and got to their loyalty department. Guy I spoke to offered $84 for Internet. I asked about Bluesky deals since I have a the gateway/portals and it's getting super slow.
I ended up getting the Internet 150, medium BlueSky TV and phone for $130.
I’ve neglected to switch this far because we own our 4 PVR’s. I suppose I could sell them on Kijiji, seems they’re going for around $50/ea.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I am pretty sure I was able to end up getting 150 for 24 months for $85 and then 3 bluesky boxes as I have poverty tv plus some channel packs. One of these days I will get rid of home phone.
Yea I own my boxes. Going to take one to my parents cabin, the other I’ll probably sell if anyone wants one.

I still have my old gateway sitting in storage, unused for 2 years.
I also got $84/month via web chat, but had an oddity where the next day someone went into a retail store and cancelled my account. The notes on the account said that me and my wife went in, returned our modem, said we were moving to Montreal, and they closed the account. I got it all set back up over the phone using my modem that I most definitely still had, but had no internet for a few hours while I figured out wtf happened.

Well I tried the Shaw web chat support, they offered me $99/month for Internet 150 and claimed they couldn't go any lower, told me I had to call retentions. Called retentions today, was only on hold for a minute or two and got an agent from Vancouver. She was very helpful and in the end (after I mentioned Lightspeed's $70/mo offer and they noted I'd been a customer for quite a few years) they gave me 2 years of Internet 150 for $74/mo. Pretty happy with that as we do use ShawOpen wifi downtown pretty frequently. Telus doesn't offer 150 in my hood so that wasn't an option.
