Are existing Internet 150 clients automatically bumped to unlimited?

Would love to be able to run my IP cameras at max quality settings.

How about for those of us grandfathered on BB250? I've been going over 1gb lately but nobody's called me.

It never had actual limits - they even would tell you that when signing up for it that it's a "soft" limit that isn't enforced. I'm always over 1TB, sometimes way over, and never in my life have I got a call or a letter.

Fuck I've been trying to get to 1TB of usage for a long time, most I've used up is 600gb haha

^ Seems decent, but check with Telus for similar plans. I think Telus has a similar deal but is a bit cheaper on the 2nd year, but dont quote me on that.

I actually just recently got Telus PureFiber 150 installed. Incredibly fast and cheaper than my Shaw 70. $50/month year 1 with a 100$ credit.

I'm lucky for living in a newer neighborhood. Nothing beats fiber directly to the house. 1ms ping with average of 177mbps.

My 60+ year old community has TELUS fiber and we've had 150 in our home for about a year now - you don't necessarily have to live in a newer community to have FTTH..

I take it they had to do some digging in the older communities?

Nope, all aerial. The amount of time it took them to run in a new fibre cable down the alley was quite amazing, probably under 15 minutes for a block.

Necro bump for those who got on Wide Open at launch, your value plans are all up and you are now paying 110 a month on your July bill.

Looks like Shaw has a typo on their website in the fine print right now and existing customers can sign a new value plan for 90/mo for 2 years. Pricing is supposed to be 99, I just quoted their fine print right to them and they gave me the 90.

    Just an FYI.

Edit: an interesting tidbit is that the sales rep let it slip that Shaw 4K services is being rolled out within the month. That’s the first I have heard but that will be awesome if true. I was able to get my internet 150 down to 85 with a cable vlaueplam with the new 4K capable equipment.

For anyone just signing up, when you talk to them they may offer you the "advanced wifi modem", or the "new advanced wifi modem". You would assume it's this one, since it's the only advanced wifi modem they talk about: https://www.shaw.ca/advanced-wifi-modem/

However in the fine print of that page, note that without a 2 year value plan (contract), you will get the older Hitron modem, even though it's not classified as the advanced wifi modem. So even though you were offered the advanced wifi modem, you won't get it.
I can eat more hot wings than you.

Do you have a link for the $90, I need to get back on the value plan. Can't live without 150 now.

Telus rolled out their 4K channels already. Beat Shaw to the punch. Not that it matters, brutal 4K content on the channels that are live, unless you're a Toronto fan. Tons of Blue Jays, Leafs and Raptors games in 4K.

Streaming apps for individual sports is probably going to be the 4K winner here.

Just expand out the legal under * and it’s right at the top.

Honestly I’m skeptical that it is even going to be rolled out and the sales rep wasn’t just misinformed about Netflix 4K. Would be sweet if it does come out though. Cable 4K should beat streaming 4K for overall quality no?

Timing isn’t a big deal, I doubt they will broadcast anything I am interested in over 4K until fall anyways.

My other plus with the new plan switch is I get my unlimited data in writing vs the warm fuzzy that it was before which is good. Moar nest cams lol.
