Default The Vaults - Luxury Car Storage

I drove past this development last week and am pretty impressed. If I had money and cars worth storage this would be epic. You could get 4 buddies together to pitch in and have the ultimate man-cave / car Club with the boys. Pretty close to deerfoot as well to pull out for a rip.

I chatted with the guy selling them after seeing them and he said $320-$500. 2 more phases being developed this year.

They're definitely cool..... but i don't really see the investment, or the benefit to this.

You gotta drive to get to your car, and if you have a car worth putting in this type of storage facility, i'd imagine you'd also have some pimp garage at your property.

You'd be better off going in with buds buying up a bunch of properties with garages in the same alley as you.

    Agreed

They have these in Miami, with full hurricane protection and James Bond style security. Also have guys that check on your car daily, maintaining battery, gas etc. Mainly designed for the big ballers who travel across the globe and have a beach house in Miami.

Even the top 1% of Calgary probably aren't wealthy enough to have multiple houses/cars across the world. Plus we don't really have threatening weather here.

Lot 18 looks decent, what are the condo fees like?

Doesn't seem to be any maintenance or services available.

They started selling at least 2-3 years ago. If the floor plan with sold status is current, they really haven't sold that many units given the length of time that has elapsed. I thought about it back when this first came on the market but quickly dismissed the idea.

I know people who likely aren't in the top 1% and still have houses/cars across the world. The builders of a facility like this wouldn't put it up unless they had done a little research first, IMO. Agreed with your point on the weather though, with the exception of flooding for ballers that live near the elbow.

I agree. The price point and concept seems absurd. I suppose there is a certain demographic that this would appeal to. "Luxury" car storage. How about just clean, well lit, accessible reasonably priced car storage minus the fluff? I can see these being very difficult to unload vs a condo with a couple of stalls.

I'd actually like to have a DT condo so I have easy access to work without dealing with traffic, plus no maintenance compared to a house. Then have something like this so I can have a few fun cars and still tinker on them in my own space.

The biggest issue though is probably re-sale. It is a really niche market and even if you do come across some one that is interested, it is going to be a hard sell for their wife. That and anybody that can actually afford these will probably opt for a house with a big garage instead.
    Agreed 100%.

The re-sale thing is the big thing for me.
... and i'm a condo guy myself, and haven't really looked at the baller condo's as they're insanely out of my price range haha...

But I thought some came with luxury car parking? Like the Verve?

Did this place sell out and none ever went for sale again? I google this place every 6 months and have never come across one for sale.

    http://mygarageworld.ca/site-map-unit-details-pricing/

This place is in Blackfalds, and there is also one on the south end of Red Deer.

They are clearly popular, lots of people with acreages have onerous rules on storage. Plus it is a guy's mancave, if he wants to get away, just goes hangs out in the shop for a day. Lots of people have their RV's and toys stored there.

900sqft in blackfalds at $145/sqft is around $130k.

This is the one in Red Deer. Larger bays, but a very nice facility (I've been inside one of the corner ones, done to the 9's, incredible place to have your toys).

Still, for the cost at $200k, I'd rather just have an acreage. Of course, it says "no living" in them, but who would know?

Saw this on my fb feed. Looks like they're doing an open house this Saturday.
