    Default Help: Seal on toilet

I've been screwing around with replacing this seal in my toilet tank. It's a dual flush toilet that uses a canister rather than a floating ball old school style water valve.

In the pictures, there's a chewed up black rubber seal I need to replace and there's two plastic tabs that look like you have to do something with but they don't move. The second picture has a side profile of the plastic tabs.

Sorry for showing Beyond a pic of my toilet but i've been messing around with this off / on for the last hour and no luck.

Anyone have any ideas on how to do this?

I think you have to take the whole back off and there is screw on seal thingy on the bottom. don't quote me I'm not a plumber but I've changed alot of toilets, albeit not a dual flush so I may be wrong.

yah to change that seal you gotta take the tank off. Shut your disconnect off, disconnect the water suppply soft line, and then remove the two nuts on the bottom (usually wing nuts for hand removal).

once those are removed, you can lift the tank off. That seal is on the bottom.

Not yet... wait till you change the seal.

SR20 is right. It's not too hard. Key is don't over tighten the bolt downs on the tank or you can pull the threads out or crack the tank.

    Haaaaa

+1 for being an easy fix. Toilets are really quite simple. And another +1 for being careful on over tightening. Good luck!
