I'm going up to sunshine today, will report on conditions.
I will avoid weekends for that very reason though, midweek is always the best time to go.

Don't know if I can help you on what brand of board to get.
But the basics that I have gathered for myself are
Flat- was the original do everything board.
Rocker - terrain, jump, park board, it's forgiving, but lacks control at higher speeds
Camber - more for half pipe, all mountain riding, gives good pop for jumps. Can be a bitch as they catch edges, great for carving, and going fast.
Hybrid - is supposed to be a mix of everything, and depending on design can be used in the park, or For free ride. (I'm looking into buying one of these guys)

Sunshine has a decent selection of board to rent, they also have a demo booth where you can try what ever they are pushing that season.

As for late season snow, I think sunshine again gets lots of powder days in the early spring, and they have been open to may for past couple of years.

I find that it's never as busy as Louise because the layout tends to cause people to scatter. I can do park laps all day typically without having to wait in a line for the lift. Louise? Hell some days you're waiting 30 mins to get up the lift for a single park lap. Shits crazy

Will probably be out there tomorrow doing park laps.

See I've always found the opposite because Sunsine funnels everyone back to the village and Louise spreads people out all over the place.

As for late season riding question, I don't think it gets much better then the Banff area which is known for late season storms. I think I've had some of my best powder days over the years after April 1st

This morning there was a heavy fog, which was bringing down a little snow you couldn't see down the World Cup down hill run at all.
The devide was groomed with about 1cm of fresh new

Standish has about 3cm of fresh snow, and haven't been anywhere else so far

But there is a dusting of powder pretty much everywhere. .

Definitely not as icy as it's been the last few weeks.

    Decent riding out there

Rick (or others) what was the temp like? When I was at Louise recently the temp in Calgary was around zero while it was -15 when we got to Louise in the morning. I checked the sunshine village forecast and it's supposed to be a low of -4. Trying to decide on a jacket to wear but not sure if I should trust that haha

Louise is a different climate zone for sure, not surprised on the discrepancy... I'd trust it.

Yea I think you're right, I didn't even check the weather when I went to Louise and ended up being lucky I had just got a down jacket that I wanted to try out!

Looking forward to sunshine tomorrow, I don't even remember what the hill is like, been so long

Bring a few layers for sure, the wind today was killer, all the lifts felt like hell, and I was wearing a Merino base, shirt, cotton sweater, and TNF thermoball jacket.
Some of the high speed quads really get that windchill down to -20 and below, feels extra cold when there's no sun out on top of that.

Sunshine is a mixed bag of weather, it's worth noting that the weather forecast is taken from the lodge, and the temp can easily swing 15deg from there to the top of lookout mountain.

Went to sunshine yesterday. Weather was good, pretty warm all day. It's definitely an interesting hill, so many flat spots, have to straightline the steeps a lot to keep from getting stuck. Snow was fairly iffy in spots, they could definitely use more but at least it wasn't icy.

Park looks good although I didn't get a chance to hit it.

Thanks for the tips Rick! Might have to spend a couple days with a rocker and a hybrid board then and see what I prefer.

Will definitely try to hit up Sunshine while I'm in Calgary.

    Update from Fernie Yesterday:
Currie bowl ski out is super sketch now.
Cedar ridge was skiing good. All the wind has leveled all the bumps in the trees over there. Should make for great powder skiing if they get a good dump.

Drove through Fernie on the way back from Kimberley yesterday. It was mighty windy in the town!

Yah was a fun drive home. Was no one on the road when we were (about 1:00 pm) so it was great.

$2 lift tickets at Norquay next Wednesday Feb 8, it's been quite the ice fest up there since the start of the season, but $2 is $2.
