Can one come out to watch ?
96db according to what standards is the question at laguna.
We measure according to the SCCA solo stds ... e.g. at 50' perpendicular to the track from the car in a place where we can expect it to be at full throttle. Don't think you can do that on a track.

Yes, just sign the general waiver and you can enter the area and even go for ride-alongs with others (you need a helmet to ride along, of course).Originally posted by LUV2REV

We had about 3 cars on the course at a given time at Packwood so I dont see why we couldnt do that here if it's a similar course.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
50 entries so far
Although if there is no track overlap, so we could be sending cars out at a higher frequency
My guess is 8 runs for the day?
EDIT: Just saw your reply
Wow, that would be pretty sweet if we can get 18 in!
Yeah I suppose at 20 seconds apart you could get a ton of cars through
Must have been a pretty efficient setup! I wonder if we could pull that off here? I think we would really have to enforce quick turnovers, and really emphasize the importance of marshal duties if that were to happen. ..Originally posted by A2VR6

It might be a little tough with the number of 1st timers, rookies, etc?

Signed up and looking forward to it!
Is it always a 60 second course? Looking to cross that 60sec barrier without errors haha.
Sure, we can do big style events here. Why not? Everyone is human and if we put our minds to it ....
Biggest factor is getting cars out quickly ... 20 seconds apart ... and when working people have to spread out and be near cones that get hit regularly (e.g. 2nd and 3rd cones of a slalom for instance) so they can replace them quickly (plus have spare cones handy to replace ones that are dragged away) such that we get few reruns. Working the course takes technique which we have not really focused on locally...
Quick change-overs on the fly are important also ... event should not stop for long no matter what.
That is how it can be done and is done at the big US events ... It is a known "thing".
Maybe we should experiment a bit with this on Sunday?

Because of the amount of new people would be my warning. Not just newbies driving and but also working. At 20 secs apart things happen fast for the workers. If there are a lot of inexperienced people on course and working, I would personally be extremely cautious sending more then 2 cars on course at once.Originally posted by A2VR6

Someone gets lost, someone spins, someone plows many many cones...not only could it be dangerous for workers and drivers that are inexperienced but the potential for flags and re-runs could end up eating into any potential gains in efficiency.

*** We're going to cap registration at 75 max and not allow any walkups (un-registered) people Sunday morning ***
It's our first time running at this venue and we want to make sure everything goes off without a hitch.
Back in the big lot days at Red Deer, we used to send cars out between 25-30 seconds no problem. 30 seconds is a lot of time ... you can walk for cones ... which is what I want to get away from if we are going to run any serious events here. (my hope).Originally posted by Sprockett

Oh, and talked with Tom so we will be coming out with worker station assignments so newbs will work with experienced people ... 6 work stations ... sign up beforehand. Thanks, Tom! And, a novice coordinator for the day.

Lexus isn't the ideal AutoX car. Doesn't change direction too well. I'd bring it if I wanted to do a drift show. Honestly, I want to see if I could still drive at a competitive level and the GLA is a well classed car for that.

I'll bring it next time. Hoping to be in town when it goes down. Travel has been nuts lately, I haven't even driven a car in 3 weeks lol.Originally posted by Sugarphreak
It does actually compete quite well in it's class
I don't think it has the cool factor of the Lexus though, plus I really wanted to see it go around the course!
The Lexus has been tweaked to the point where it's really sensitive to tire pressures and temps. Will need to figure out how to get and retain heat in those tires haha.

Link to classes in the rules. If you aren't sure what class register in, please take a look and even ask here. If you ready registered incorrectly, there's still time to update it. It will speed up registration.
