Need to submit my renewal. Gonna drop by the office...probably the one on Macleod. Downtown probably a bitch to find parking?
Is it busy? Want to drop by before work so I just wanna time myself.

I got there about 30 mins before Harry Hays opens. In and out within 30mins after it opens. There may be about 10-12 people ahead of me.Originally posted by Seks

Free street parking by Chinatown until 9am.
TLDR, in by 7am, out by 8am. This was late May, right before busy travel season.

Not sure Macleod but I went to the one in dt before 7am (they dont open til 7:30) and there was a lady already in line.
By 7:30 there were atleast 15-20 of us in line.
There were lots of booths too so the line went by pretty quickly. I was out in 10min.
So I think if you get there before 8am you should be good.
And I got my new passport 10-14days later.
As long as you have the forms filled out and passport photos ready, it's like a 15 minute process at the office to drop off the renewal. The guy up front makes sure you're just there for a drop off and it's expedited. Pick up is equally as fast.
I use those 30 minute parking right outside.

Based on my experience, the one on macleod was horribly busy (on a weekend, so that probably makes a diff), btu I went to the one DT on like a Wed afternoon, and like others was in and out very expediently.
Just renewed a month ago. Including getting photo's done across the street, we were an hour (10am-11am) on a friday. They process the renewal's very fast.Originally posted by cjblair

Just went to Harry Hays last week. I didn't see a separate line for renewals though, only for pickup.
Showed up at 7:30 and there was already a line (about 25 people). Took about 45 minutes before I was out of there. Probably better off to be there at 7:10 and you should be out of there by 7:35.

Hey baller, any problem money can solve is no problem at all. Don't sweat it.
That article doesn't seem accurate. I've seen a lot of "Parking Time Change" sandwich boards in my area, and a new sticker on the signs indicating an 8:30 start to paid parking.

There is the 1st line to sort out what you are here for. Then you get a number and it seems renewal with all the proper paper work get called out to be processed 1st.
Good to know.
Riverfront is still 9am, you might have to park east a little bit
Downtown isn't that busy now with all the layoffs. I'm sure you'll find a parking spot.
“Straight roads are for fast cars, turns are for fast drivers.”
Went to the DT one today at 1230pm. Managed to find a spot right infront of the entrance. Activated my calgary parking app.
Place was a zoo...wasn't sure how long of a wait it was. 4-5 empty booths since presumably staff were on lunch breaks.
I Was out by 130pm.
Now to wait for the pp in the mail
Theres a passport office in Royal Oak as well if you're in the NW.
Its across the plaza from where the Ceilis is and it only took me 15 minutes to get in and out.
About 5 weeks ago I went in to downtown office on a Tuesday; in at 0732 out by 0744. The shortest I ever have - and I timed it. Street parking was also free and available then, but since August 1, you may have to pay for parking starting at 0730. At this rate you could even do a loading zone parking and get away with it. Come prepared with a completed form, of course.
well wtf...i would have went there if u would have stated earlier...Originally posted by [Yu]

You can also go to some Canada Post offices to drop off a renewal but have to pay $20.

I could have sworn there's a thicker pp that's a lot more than 35 pages? I only got a 35 page one.
If you don't work downtown, don't bother with Harry Hays.Originally posted by Seks
