I downloaded that snapseed app. Pretty cool. Will definitely still have my phone on me for quick photo ops and likely use that app for editing!
Still hunting for an rx100

I also use snapseed together with vsco. Snapseed for main editing (brigtness/contrast etc) and then vsco for their filters and also like the a4-6 ones. Basically those 2 apps is all you need for editing although the new VSCO update ruined the app a bit.

Few well priced ones on that camera website posted earlier. An rx100 mk3 with a messed up LCD (just the cover i believe)
Sent some offers to the guys
God damn CAD though...
Give TCS a call. I could have sworn I saw an RX100 in their used department last week, though I'm not sure which version it was.
You could just buy one and sell it when you come home. You'd probably lose $200 or so - as you well know by now, they hold their value nicely.
I don't think anyone rents these things unfortunately.
Keep an eye on eBay as well.
Good news guys, I have one currently en route. Will take photos of my new camera with my camera phone when it arrives haha.
What did you end up with?
Got that one on that fred camera site, with the extras. Talked the guy down to 415 USD shipped. Even the memory card alone was worth over 50 bucks, I think I looked at most of the gear the guy included and it was in the 700-900 USD range new for everything.
Nice, congrats on the purchase.
Yep thanks for all the help, hopefully i can get some good shots with it when im away!
You will. But if not just shoot in RAW so you can fix them later
Well customs fucked me and held onto the camera for 6 god damn days. Plus the guy took two days to send and sent via shitty first class mail (8-21 days). Looks like I'll have a real nice unit waiting for me once I get home! Fml
Ouch man that sucks...
That's brutal man. I'd cancel the deal if you still have that ability, and just go buy a new one. Sell it when you get home if you have to, you shouldn't lose too much. Not having a decent camera for a possibly once in a lifetime trip is not worth saving a few bucks IMO.

at this point im strongly considering going to BB and buying an RX100 II without any add ons.. maybe a case I guess.
In that case id have the following when i got home
sony rx100 II (nearly new) - paid 700 + GST
sony rx100 II (from fredmiranda) - paid 550
Case, 2 straps, custom grip, lenses, how to guide for camera
Id hope at the end of the day I could sell one or the other and be only 50-100 dollars up on my original 550 paid...
Yeah you probably wouldn't be out too much at the end of the day. Most people on FM will take stuff back - I would just ship it back to him if you can and get a refund unless you want to keep it regardless.
If you know for sure you're going to sell it when you get home, you might as well get the RX 100 III for the trip.
rx100 III is definitely out of my price range. Also im a super newb photographer so i wonder if I could even justify it.
Just responded to this ad - if I could pick this up for around the price and re sell for 50 bucks less when im home i would probably be happy

I know it's more than you wanted to spend, my thinking was if you're going to sell it anyway, it doesn't matter as much what it costs upfront. The RX 100 III gets you the faster lens and pop-up viewfinder, which are pretty awesome. Slightly less zoom though. Even in full auto mode those things are very useful.
That Kijiji one looks pretty good if it is indeed mint - close to your original budget too before we all got involved
I've never returned anything in my life to an individual I've also never purchased used camera gear because I am far too anal haha.Originally posted by blitz
Remind me never to sell anything to you
In his case, the guy took his sweet ass time shipping it via the worst shipping method to boot, and now combined with the customs hold up, it's late - not being able to use the item at all seems like a decent reason to send it back in this case. Obviously something you would discuss with the seller before sending it back.
