The father said he had not spoken with his son in about a month but that he seemed to be doing okay. “Last I heard this week, everything was going well.” His son was working at a temp agency and was hoping to be hired on a full-time basis, he said.

Homegrown terrorism isn't about society, unless when talking about society we focus on how shitty some families are.

On one hand, I give a lot of credit to the father for going "he gets what he gets", but on the other hand, you still get a sense of "I can't believe he actually went through with it!"

Lol, no, not that. There was a thread awhile back about a couple Canadians going to Syria to fight with ISIS. I made the case then that we have home grown terrorist here already with the potential to strike canadian or American targets, and I basically got brushed off by the naysayers and NIMBYs

I didn't read either one of the articles posted, but I read another where they interviewed his ex-lawyer which negotiated his peace bond where he was quoted as saying something along the lines of "he didn't deserve to be killed" and "the police shouldn't have shot him". I'm sure the same lawyer would have been outraged if his plot succeeded and killed dozens of people as planned.
