    Default Berg Lake Trip

This is the trip I've really been looking forward to all summer as Berg Lake Trail has been on my bucket list for a long time. The weather was the usual scorching during the day and raining buckets at night - we even got hail while tenting which is always interesting! Despite some weather condition hiccups, many of the main photos I had in mind for this trip came through just as I had imagined them.

    Hope you enjoy. -Matt

This was is overlooking Jasper - I nice little spot a friend led me to!

^Agreed, great composition on the second to last image. I think the second B&W is my favourite. Really like the effect you achieved there.

    Thanks every one!

Gogreen, that B&W was shot using a polarizer + 10-stop ND filter. It's a bit of a pain in the ass, to be honest, as I don't have the much easier to use Lee filter system. But I'm accepting donations

    Those pics look awesome!

How long was the hike up to Emperor Falls btw? We're looking to do a day hike on this trail and doubt we can get all the way up to Berg Lake and back.

    Thanks man!

Emperor Falls I think is more-or-less at the top of the incline, and with my big bag was a bit of a haul and took awhile. But families were out there day hiking to Berg Lake! I suspect you have to start early and end kind of late (it is 43km after all). Just guessing with a day pack and being averagely fit, probably 8-10 hrs round trip? We saw a few trail runners out there all the way to Berg - absolutely insane.

The falls are pretty stunning but to go all that way and not see Berg would be unfortunate, IMO. You can also bike to the first campsite if you are able.

I biked from Robson Meadows campground to Kinney Lake, then hiked to Berg Lake - Toboggan Falls-Robson Pass, and then back down. I think altogether that was about 10-11 hours for me. I'm a fast hiker, so I'd guess for most people that's how long it'd take to just go to Emperor Falls & back. The majority of day hikers only go to Kinney Lake, which is a very pretty lake in itself and a worthwhile destination.

Awesome B&Ws. This trail is definitely going onto my hike list.

I love my Lee filter system. Have a look at UK retailers if price is holding you back. I have ordered many times from Robert White while I was living in the UK and since I've been back in Canada. I believe it's the cheapest option for Lee products.

Dude you are a godsend. It's $120 cheaper for both the Big and Little Stopper from Lee than B&H and $150 from TCS. Wow!

I was thinking I might try the Breakthrough Photography filters as they're highly reviewed but that's some incredible savings.

Now I just need to justify this to myself

If you do order from Robert White pay the few extra quid for UPS shipping. UPS dinged me $26 for a £200 order while DPD/Amarex charged me $20 for a £100 order.
