Default Speeding Ticket Question-Ticket not registered?

    Hi all,

I had a quick question about a speeding ticket I got a while back. I'm not trying to talk about fighting it, I simply zoned out and was speeding, got nailed and I'm not looking for a way out of that.

My actual question is about the ticket not being registered At the bottom of the yellow slip there is a website to go to and pay online (www.finepayment.gov.ab.ca) and when I enter in my ticket I get a error

"This ticket was not found. Please enter the ticket number again ensuring you include the letters at the beginning and end of the number. If still not successful, please refer to the "More Information" tab for information on how to pay this ticket. (004026)"

I have carefully double checked the spelling and I know its 100% correct. I called into the office to ask and they said they would check into it and that I should recheck every week or so. Well its been 3 weeks since that call and its still not updated . The voluntary court date is sept 14, the notice says I have until then to pay otherwise a late fee.

Well how the hell do I pay it? What will happen if I dont pay it (since i I technically cant)? Did I just get incredibly lucky? Will I get arrested if I dont pay? Anyone have any experience with this?

EDIT: To give an idea of timeline, its been nearly 3 months since it was issued

It took a really long time for mine to work its way through the system so I could pay it online. Keep checking, it's not likely that it got lost.

In the past I've used that site without any issues.... Loved being able to pay online.

However during Stampede week, I got a ticket... Tried multiple times per day, for 3.5 weeks to pay it online, and it kept saying the ticket couldn't be found. Soooooo annoying.

Ended up going in to a registry to pay it.

This was a question I asked the guy on the phone as well, he said to go into the registry to pay. But how does that work? If the ticket isn't registered then how could I pay it at the registry?

Also I should give an idea of timeline, ticket was issued start of june, so its been nearly 3 months

I don't have the paperwork in front of me, but what I got from the registry looked like they were able to "find" the ticket. They didn't scan the details, just applied payment, and I was good to go (they used the ticket number).

I think it's probably just issues with the website... Who knows... I was just choked I had to drive to a registry to pay.

Go to a registry and pay it.

I recently got a tint ticket, and checked repeatedly online - always got the "not registered" bullshit. Then, notice of conviction comes in the mail and I can no longer pay the reduced rate... Just so happens, I can conveniently pay it online at this point. Fucking gov't systems.

Could this be government "optimization"? hahaha

    That sucks though.

Ah ok, this is exactly what I was wondering. How much did it increase?
