Hard to find a reason to upgrade to the 12 Pro over the 12. Better battery life, telephoto lens and HDR video recording at 60 vs 30 fps are the only things I really noticed.

I guess for me (8+ pleb) it's to decide to get an 11 Pro vs a 12 before all the stock are gone.

Disappointed it looks pretty much the same since X. Still has the notch and faceid. I guess I will keep my X for another 2 years. lol
Im not surprised it looks pretty much the same and in a way glad because my X is only one year old lol I am surprised they even did a mild refresh though, normally its every 2 years with a newish design and the other years just being a new internal refresh.
My Wife needs a new phone and she uses the max so looks like we'll be paying $2kish for a new max

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Disappointed no Touch ID. Guess another year on the XS. This will be the longest time I've held onto a phone.
iPad Air gave me so much hope. Neither USB C port or Touch ID made it to iPhone 12. May be 13 will be the lucky number.

So it seems overall that the 12 and mini are a fair bit better than expected.

This is the smallest gap between pro and non pro they have ever done for sure. Gonna sell a lot fewer flagships.

Will be interesting to see if any other differences between the phone show up beyond the announcement, no comment on 5G band differences for example.

Market has pivoted to low to mid range. Also, along with SE, 10r and 11 are sticking around as low cost options. Free vasectomy aside, given the 5G network shit show, may want to avoid 1st gen product anyway until they get the bugs out.

As for iPhone 12 mini, it's smaller than iPhone SE and iPhone 7. And a slight bit thicker (0.1mm)

My thing is that when you get a 128gb 12 it is only $200 more for the pro so that is why I think I would rather have the pro.

Apple care on iphone or watch yes/no? 12 is $199 and pro is $249 now which seems steep.

Also no mmwave 5g on canadian phones but they didn't pass the savings to ROW like google did.

Yea Canada gets a legit different model number than the US without mmWave.

Ok, fuck that noise. Not buying one. I really debated it even though it was underwhelming but no way I want some neutered phone that doesn’t have the same features as the American one.

We got double dicked as $999 usd is $1312 cdn and we miss out on the no mmwave discount.

Looks like from the specs/dimensions, besides third lens, lidar, 128gb and stainless the 12 and pro are identical. The peak brightness is higher on the pro though. I wonder if the BOE for 12 and samsung panel for 12 pro is true then.

I think these are also new, pretty reasonable for $70

You almost need line of sight to the tower to make it work anyway. Too early to care about mmWave 5G.

Even less in the age of WFH.

mmwave isn't even a thing in Canada, at least not till 2022 at the earliest when the spectrum auctions take place. By then you'll be upgrading to iPhone 13 anyways. Not like you'll be travelling to US with mmwave support anyways with COVID.

Strange reason to not buy a phone.

If I’m going to overpay for a phone that doesn’t do anything more than my current phone does it sure as hell better have every spec under the sun going for it.

Also need the mmWave when I visit the states, will really revolutionize my Manhattan shopping experience.

When you are struggling to find a reason to buy something, it doesn’t take much to push you in the other direction lol

So apple really made a point about how 5G is basically on demand for when your phone needs it otherwise it drops to LTE to save on battery. How much battery does 5G actually use?

    Headphone and charging brick discount.
As rage mentioned I am not sure what the big deal with mmWave in Canada is. No carrier in Canada is deploying this network.

Also, what's with not being able to get the best camera with the 12 Pro? Need to setup up to the 12 Pro Max to get the best camera which is what the majority of us care about in a new phone. Hopefully "Sensor-shift optical image stabilization" isn't revolutionary, because I'm done with the larger +/Max phones.

Most 5G testers had their phone overheated during summer heat wave (95f) so phones had to drop down to 4G to save itself. Qualcomm's 2nd gen radio will address that problem. So it definitely use more.

Also mmWave is in Ghz band and building pentation will be poor so you may default back to 4G anyway inside.

When will Apple have these in store to hold and touch? I have my eyes set on the mini, but maybe if I held the 12 and figured it wasn’t that big I’d go that route.
