They are $900 CAD with Apple care and tax.

20 hours of playback. Too rich for my blood.

There’s no way these can outperform other OTE, and if they can is it worth a grand?

That’s crazy.. I really don’t understand this. Is battery life like a week?
Battery life is 20h, no better than Beats Studio 3. Don't get me wrong, that's enough to last door to door from my house to my hotel in India (24h door to door minus a few hrs of sleep) but I'm sure some people want these things uncharged for days at a time.

I can't see audiophiles being anywhere near happy with these things in the high end space. The fact that it runs over bluetooth over compressed AAC or a minijack but through a DAC to lightning port is an instant no for any audiophile snob.

I mean the only use case is if the spatial audio is miles ahead of AirPods Pro and can actually compete with people that can't put a true Atmos setup in their homes, I can't see any other real market segment for this. Aside from bling factor. Let's hope Apple blows these out with their back to school sale haha. That's how I got my family Beats Studio 3's. Sure the hell wouldn't pay $400 for those either lol.

    Current pricing on amazon bose 700 $439 + XM4 $348 = $787, only $8 more than these
The make the homepod super expensive, sales suffer, then release a super reasonably priced homepod mini, and then this.

RE: $900 headphones, they will still sell a bunch of them. All of you guys talking about battery life and audio quality are missing the point. Apple's target buyer dgaf about those kind of things. They just care that they're Apple, and will defend them as being better than [insert any other objectively better headphone].

When the airpods pro went on "sale", I got them. I'll stick to them. This one is off the chart in pricing. I rather have Bose or Sennheiser for over the ear headphones. The price is ridiculous; but again, it's Apple.

The homepods do sound good for their size, especially in a pair. Even then, it's still way too expensive. I bought a pair to try out because it now supports atmos but it really wasn't that good. There was surprisingly good rear definition but zero height.

That said they were on sale for effectively $260 each during Black Friday, that's probably closer in terms of value.

Agreed. I have 2 people at work that I've talked to this morning wanting to buy them, with one actually committing and ordered. Crazy shit.

The issue is I’m not convinced apples margin on the initial fanboy run on these will pay off the R&D that went into them (which I truly believe Apple spends a lot on even if the end product isn’t nessecarily better than anyone else’s).

One thing I appreciate is apple’s general commitment to higher quality materials, I hate shit that is awesome but feels like it is made from recycled Safeway bags.

At that price, they would be great, even like $299 perhaps since they never sold too hot. At full price it is as much as the google home max so maybe not too crazy anymore, but I think I would rather have two sonos ones even though I am new apple fanboy #1.

They are taking all the money and spending it on airtag R&D. I thought that was going to be the product announced today, but still waiting

I bought the Sonos Lamps from Ikea for $240, and yea, they sound like shit compared to the HomePod at $260. That said, it's pairing with my Sonos sound bar so it does the job that HomePod can't do.

Here I thought Apple shit was expensive. Till I started dabbling in Sonos lol.

I couldn’t justify the price point on the arc or the sub. The beam on sale at 350 (plus the 2 lamps) is probably my limit for investing in audio for the bedroom.

The price of an arc, I can build a full 5.1.2 setup. Wouldn’t be pretty haha.

I have a sub from a more indulgent time, it made more sense last house.

Currently have a beam paired with my frame upstairs but I think the arc would really make sound pop considering the size and shape of the room it’s in.

In any case that’s what the HT downstairs is for which is much my preferred place to watch anything.

Did anyone see the new headphones? AirPods Max or something? Never heard anything about them and just happened to notice it on the home screen of my Mac as Apple is the default page.

EDIT: Nvm I see chat about it above. My homepage is apple.com so $569 was USD but $1K CDN...freaking mental.
