He's right as you can argue there's merit in calling Apple a lifestyle company and it should be embarrassing to Intel. Losing Apple's business has to sting but Intel and AMD should count themselves lucky that Apple's silicone isn't available to other OEM's.
And Intel will outsource some chips to TSMC and Samsung to get on the 5nm/3nm train as they can't even figure out 10nm yet. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Qualcomm 888 is disappointing enough that they are buying someone who knows better building ARM cpus:

I have to say, with performance of A14 and M1, looks like this life long Windows/Android fanboy may have to pledge allegiance to Tim Cook in 2021.

I feel like we’re at a point in time where there’s a perfect storm for mass windows to Mac migration. AMD is pretty much the last hope for x86.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
If we start seeing more games supporting Mac platform, it’ll be game over.

That’s a big maybe
Mac isn’t even on the radar outside of US and Canada imo.

I was an intel fanboy from 2001 to 2020. Switched to AMD on my last desktop build.
Apple has 2 problems:
Lacks games
Lacks custom build ability
You are never going to get “enthusiasts” if you can build your own machine.

I think you’re overestimating the size of the home built market. It’s about 20% in the gaming PC sector, and even smaller in the whole PC market. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Only reason why I think Apple has a chance is if they are proven in ARM, there’s nowhere to go ARM but Apple for the short term. Theres a window where the last holdouts, gaming, won’t have a choice if it’s shown that a AAA title can work better on ARM. I dunno how big that window is, or if gaming would even move in that direction, all depends on Microsoft with their OS, and who can compete with Apple on an ARM processor. Apple has proven that ARM works for a huge percentage of workflows out there, and there’s currently no competition.
Like I said, it’s a perfect storm right now if it were to happen.

Just noticed that if you sign up for apple care+ paid monthly, it comes off of your itunes credits. I think most people here have figured out that it's relatively easy to find itunes GCs at 15-20% off if you keep an eye out at costco/other retailers, so that's essentially a backdoor way to get a discount on apple care. Not sure if it works the same for the lump sum option.
Is that new? It seems to be coming off my credit card. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Not sure to be honest. This is my first time trying monthly and I was happy to see it billed against my store credit:

I’ll update when I get billed next month to see if it still goes to my store credit again
Do you happen to have Apple store credit on your account?
Totally different than iTunes Store credit.

It’ll take it off credits first, and credit card if you don’t have enough. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Haven't seen 15-20% itunes GC for a long time now...... I usually buy hundreds at a time since it's also good for subscriptions like icloud, disney+ and not just app purchases. Need to know when they have big discounts again. Hopefully they will still offer that much discount.
Not that I’m aware of. All I see is “Apple ID” credit which should be iTunes as I’ve never purchased Apple Store creditsThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I know that in the US apple decided to stop differentiating between the two...I wonder if they did that here without announcing it?

Costco does 10-16% (depending on how much you buy) quite regularly, I’d say at least every 2 months if not more frequent. Usually see them in the weekly newsletter email. Canadian tire had a deal i think around Black Friday for 20% back in CT money as well. They are definitely still around. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I don’t know if it’s the same.
