Ah whoops, that makes more sense. I was expecting the 14 to replace the 13 outright. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Education discount is excellent, AHS epp discount $0
Holy shit I just started Apple Music and spatial audio is a great gimmick. Sounds so good with the AirPods Pro
Interest in China crazy like the early Apple days in the USA. Consumers almost the exact same too, young people borrowing money to get. No surprises really.
5 million pre-orders, 500 in store - story of the times.

I'd love to upgrade my 13" M1 Pro to a 14". But the Air is hugely limited vs the Pro, thanks to the passive cooling. Linux Tech tips did a bunch of testing on the air, and showed how they under-cool the CPU on the air, so you lose a ton of performance. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. If I wouldn't lose my shirt on my 13", I'd sell it to upgrade.

I've been using Final Cut, iMovie and OBS all summer across both the MBA and MBP 13" M1's, and there's zero difference in performance. I think I even ran some benchmarks early on when I got my hands on both. Seriously don't think I've ever heard the MBP M1 fan come on.
Of course, I'm probably not working it hard enough. Whats' the performance difference between the 2 when it hits thermal ceiling?
Like I said, in my use case, with all the video work (which I feel is pretty power hungry), the MBP 13" M1 is a regret. Even choice of 16GB is a regret here.

I just hate that you need to spend 3 grand to get a normal sized laptop.
I don’t know why people put themselves through 12 or 13” laptops.
I’m debating ordering a base 16” though probably 50/50 on cancelling it.

Travel. Not that it matters anymore. Smaller laptops are nice for moving around house/different parts of office, while docking multiple monitors gives the desktop experience. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My dream would be to have a 12” MacBook with M1 that supports multiple monitors.

My favourite MacBook was my 17” pre unibody. Had it for 2 weeks before the video card failed and then got a free upgrade to a 15” unibody when they discontinued the 17”.
Maybe this new 16”+ would be better?
I need a real screen for work.

Can anyone recommend a good app to clean up pictures? I.e. something that identifies dupes/similar pics and deletes them? I’ve seen ads for them but they all seem sketchy/scammy so looking for something legit. Don’t mind paying a few bucks either if it’s good.
I know the M1 "only" supports one monitor, but I can successfully get 3 externals going with 1 running off an apple dongle, and 2 running off a displaylink dock. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

For the last couple weeks (I think since my last iOS update), I get a prompt from my settings every day to "Update Apple ID Settings" where I have to enter my apple ID password, then my phone passcode. It doesn't say specifically why, and the prompt always re-appears the next day. I've tried googling, no useful help so far.
Any ideas?
Did you try logging out and logging back in? Something isn't in sync.

Makes sense, I’ll give that a shot.
Big news!

iOS 15.1 update out today which includes the ability to scan your covid qr code into health + apple wallet. If you already scanned it into health, you need to delete that and scan again.
