Apparently it’s easier to text to poor people now?

And satellite messaging is supposed to be active now.

Depends on the carrier, I think.

I was in the bush Thursday and couldn’t get it to work.

Have even even confirmed Canadian carriers are supporting it?

It just started today. The existing SOS satellite function does work as I’ve shared my location with my wife while on a mountain with no service. I don’t see how Canadian carriers would be involved as it’s intended to work when no carriers are available.

A quick search says it’s now available in the US, UK and Canada. I just paid another month on my Zoleo sat messager, maybe for the last time if this works well on my phone instead.

    I’ve had iOS18 for a while lol

Apple explicitly says carriers are involved so that’s why I asked.

Not sure if related but Rogers did a deal with SpaceX so it may be to support this feature?

EDIT: lol iOS18 just flagged my 13P battery as 'severely downgraded' yay.

Anyone else noticed a massive battery drain after iOS 18 upgrade? Also phone getting weirdly hot at times? My 15 Pro Max is doing it.

It's normal after every major update.

I haven't. I am on 14 Pro Max and my battery is still at 81%. Was hoping that it will go below 80% so that I can have a battery replacement. No luck.
I am referring to the Battery health.

That is a thing? If it's below 80%, Apple replaces it for free?

Mine is still at 91% so I am far, but my 1 year warranty runs out next month.

If you have Apple Care +.
Wife's phone went below 80 and she got a notification. Battery got replaced by Apple.

Ah okay. Apple care. Makes sense. I never get that. I hardly ever keep the phone beyond a year. But this time, I don't see any reason to get the 16 from my 15 so will likely keep this one another year - but I also say this every time.

@benyl just checked and my phone doesn't show anything like that under the battery category.

Normally I changed my phone every year. Last year was the first time I didn't. I didn't see a reason to go from 14 to 15 so I stayed with 14.
I think I will change it this year and go for the 16

Mine doesn't either because it's already completed the task I suppose. But yes, the battery drain on my 15 Pro is fucking off the charts!!! I charged my phone this morning to 80% and it was 5% at 3:30 in the afternoon. I didn't even use it for half of that time. I could usually get almost two days of use. Fucking insane. It doesn't get hot tho. Stays cool all day.

I posted the same complaint in April at the top of the page when I updated my OS last time haha. It was pretty frustrating, but seemed to sort itself out reasonably quickly.

Just checked and my 14 pro max battery health is 84%. Tbh I thought it'd be higher, my battery seems to last forever.

I guess will give it a few days and see how it goes. Apple is pretty good at this shit typically so if it's a bigger issue, I am sure they will issue an update relatively quickly.
