It's modern day Toyota. If you're expecting to be blown away, your expectations are clearly way too high.

The RC-F track edition was another example of everyone expecting way more but only got a 5hp rounding error of an upgrade. Classic Toyota.
I was so excited when I heard it would be the most powerful Lexus aside from the LFA.

Then bam, 1, ONE more horsepower than the LC. Hahah.

I was excited for 500hp NA. But, it’s close to 200lbs lighter. Win.

Looks pretty good. A bit heavy on the scoops/slits/slots that probably don't do anything.
$70k makes it an easier choice...
    ...

    To probably buy a Lexus.

TLDR: Tada say they come off for "instant race car", journalist: not all of them.

Direct USD conversion would say $65K for 2L, $70 for 3L and $72K for launch edition.

CAD prices not released yet but a Toyota dealer is already quoting $79K for launch edition.
I think I had based it on the sequoia pricing (1.26). Highest spread looks like 4runner @ 1.32. I suppose being made in EU could change that to be higher potentially.

Don't know if BMW has a say but a fully loaded M440i is around $72K. Even if Supra is a different animal, I doubt it'll be cheaper than that. (or may be by $1K or 2 since Toyota probably won't include 4 years of maintenance).

Well the Supra will have a 194HP version in Japan as well based on the 2L. Wonder if will be the end of the FT86/BRZ?

Wouldn't the M240i be a closer comparison especially in terms of dimensions.

It is 1/2 slower to 60 tho and 1 class down.

Heck $72K will also get you M2 Competition or TTRS.

More like $72K US .. M2 Comp loaded will be in the $80K cad + tax, TTRS will be in the $85K + tax area with options.

Still, ~ $65K cad for the Supra is cheaper, but by all mean not "great value" ..

And depends on who you believe, either 500 or 1000 will come to Canada 1st year.

Given FR-S sold 1500 1st year and this is 2x the price, truth is probably somewhere in the middle of those 2.

The bargain here is the m240i. $49k (zf8) base vs $65k base supra, for an identical powertrain. You can get a manual too.

The only thing good about this car is the additional tuning support the B58 will get.

I think it would be prudent to wait until there's a version with the higher output B58 that's in the Z4 M40i.

I doubt BMW will let Toyota have higher output B58 or even the cream of the crop S58.

Not likely to get the S58 but I don't see why BMW would have an issue providing the higher output B58. It's not like the Supra is a direct competitor with the Z4. Ultimately it will come down to if people feel 335 hp is enough and how sales go.
