You'd at least have flaggers on a road course, non?

There are not many flaggers, and honestly they aren't going to be fast enough to help compared to me as the driver figuring out there's a problem. An electronic flagging system would help too, but there's a latency in that as well and in the driver noticing. The warning lights on the dash are much faster and easier to know what to do in this kind of situation... and the cloud of smoke in the rear view.
