Don't worry, crazy optioned Cayennes depreciates like crazy. Let someone else take the hit haha.
That's because if I round up, VAG makes about one bazillion MLB platform vehicles.

It's quite an accomplishments that Porsche can turn one of the most generic platforms into something that they can sell for so much money.

Like anything else...you're paying to have the brand name I guess. I have never understood the fascination with P cars. Out of the 26 cars in the past 10 years, not once have I desired a Porsche. Though I do think I will get a 911 of some kind at least one time in my life just so I can understand what all the hype is about.

I went to their site once you said this to check it out. It does look good; but fuck me, the option pricing and convoluted nonsense with Porsche sure is shocking! I've always heard people complain about it, but just a few minutes of clicking and it makes me mad. Strange company.
Agreed, it's a bit complicated at first because there is no limit in the options from which to choose. You have the ability to make a one of a kind car if you really want (think about that!!! ). I think first best to zoom out from that and pick a trim line/style of the model you like. That usually comes with a core set of appearance and/or performance options that you can then modify to your liking. But say starting for example from a base trim of whatever model and then optioning up is a fool's errand.

I think it's more than just a brand name, though I don't dispute that is a factor. For me, I'm impressed with the quality and drive each time I step into mine. Maybe my opinion would be different had I gone through so many cars like you, but that's not my reality.

But then it does that more typically US thing where it's like "Whoa - you can't pick those wheels unless you change the interior colour and add SatNav plus donut spare plus extended warranty!!" bullshit.

It’s a big departure from the lesser VAGs… VW and Audi: you get 3 choices you damn plebs!

New Summer Shoes, from the exotic photo op location of the Safeway parking lot ( don’t worry @rage2 no paper bags were purchased in the making of this post ).

New winter tires are mounted and ready to go on the old 437M’s whenever it gets cold (how depressing is that)

Really like the new look, and while the 788’s are apparently a bit heavier it was nothing I could notice back to back.

Followed some evil EV out of the parking lot too… tsk tsk

Aren't you supposed to pop your hood open and then stand around awkwardly looking like a dork?

    Cars and coffee fail.

    This GX is 11/10.
Last I heard, it's pending sale. A bit sad, I would love to be able to afford to pick it up, it's definitely 11/10.

It's a bit hard to wrap my head around (especially with a preference to Lexus that makes it pretty easy to have 3-4 different trims and call it a day), but I get the appeal of the options approach. It gives a new buyer the opportunity to buy something truly unique exactly how they want it, which is not available in other brands (outside of Bentley etc.). Want a Cohiba Interior with a Lime Green exterior, sure? Want to have the entire interior in leather for the price of a Corolla but not a fan of pano roofs, fine.

When I drove my first Cayenne (2nd Gen) with about 160k km on it, I was sold, the car felt rock solid and had amazing driving dynamics for an SUV. Not even comparable with a (non AMG/M) GLE/X5. Every time I get in mine it feels like an 'event' and I can't really see myself driving anything else.

I can see the appeal of the bespoke approach to options. A little more work for the buyer, but then again, buy can feel like their car is more special and uniquely "theirs".

Bespoke options is a win-win. Buyers get exactly what they want, manufacturers can charge them through the nose for it. It's the ideal system.
