The trick to launching a manual AWD car is to disregard potential repair bills and just sidestep the clutch off rev limiter. Seriously. If the drivetrain can take it, that's the best launch you get. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The crown vic has a stock converter so not vicious off the line.
It’s got some sort of torque management to save the clutch, it simply cuts throttle if it senses anything abnormal. Rev it up and dump the clutch, it cuts throttle and won’t allow it, try to ease into it and slip the clutch to keep rpm up and it cuts throttle. That’s with the car in “race mode” and traction control all the way off. It’s actually pretty weird how it acts, a tune will remove this but I’ll leave it stock. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It’s nothing like launching the multiple fwd’s I’ve had or my old STI which I could rev up and dump the clutch of slip the clutch to get it out of the hole.
I’ve done a ton of dragy hits trying different methods and what works best is trying to duplicate how the DSG cars launch. Hold rpm at about 2500 (if I can remember correctly), let out the clutch fairly quick then floor it once the speed of the car is inline with 2500rpm in first gear. But I’m happy to let someone else try!

Ah thats a bummer, yeah the Subarus love a good clutch dump, also some AWD nissans Ive driven (GTiR and R32s).
S4 getting cozzied, all these Cosworth bits worth more than the car itself lol

Unless you are trying to stick with OEM, dont most aftermarket Y pipes get better flow? (Not have the pinched/flattened section and smoother transition?)This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
