Yea you need to actually go as far as talking to a legit US customs agent on your way to try US to do it.

Yes this was in Calgary. I thinly he rationale is if you don’t go to the US often enough that this works out then you aren’t a good nexus candidate.
The Nexus appointment is for my 3 year old son, who doesn't go to the US enough LOL. But travelling with the rest of the family he definitely needs Nexus. Just thought I'd ask, we are going to Mexico in Dec but already planning a US trip for March.

Guess I should have renewed earlier but I just submitted the renewal for our daughters Nexus (thank god it's free for under 18), has anyone renewed their kids nexus recently and was it quick?

we are going to need it for May

My wife renewed hers in mid Oct and got the approval this week. If that’s helpful.

    Definitely tightened up

I got a notice that my Nexus was open for renewal Dec 16th, which I submitted immediately. I finally got approved today (two months). The notice just says I've been approved and I just need to wait for the new card to arrive in the mail and to activate it when I get it.

I was always under the impression that renewals required an interview, but this is the second time in a row it's been renewed without needing to do an interview. Is that normal? Last time I assumed I didn't get interviewed cause it was during COVID and they just skipped the interview to expedite the queue.

I've heard of others not requiring an interview. I think it's discretionary.

Speaking of nexus, I had problems using mine at the scanner at yyc comming home last week. Never did scan even with the CBSA agent helping me. Passport did scan. Wonder if there's something fucked with my card or if that scanner was not working. Wonder how to check that....
Also never got the iris scan. Probably should do that some day.

I renewed my Nexus late year and was approved without interview; i also thought renewals required an interview. Card showed up about a month after I received the notice of approval. took about 3 or 4 months from when I submitted the renewal request.

Mine didn't require a reinterview. Congrats on being less sketchy.

Might just go to the airport today and get my iris scan. You need that for USA right?

I finally got a CBSA person to call me back. I renewed in Apr 2022. Still no conditional approval. Took 3 weeks to get ahold of someone. The reason for delay: IT issue. Hopefully on track for a renewal now

So weird, my daughter just got conditional approval on her renewal but is requiring an interview. So annoying as we still have to do the 2 part interview - 1 now and 1 when we fly to the US next.

Update to my previous comment about needing an iris scan. I don't, nobody does, that's not how they do it anymore.
I do apparently need to update my photo, because I get an error message at the kiosk reentering Canada. No error at the TSA precheck face scan in USA.

Funny though, even with the error reentering Canada, it didn't slow me down.

Guess I should have checked earlier but our daughter's renewal application was conditionally approved back in March 22 (2 months from application) and need to book an appointment.
Next available appointment is mid June now which is perfect as we don't need it until later this summer.

Adults perhaps doesn't need an appointment but for kids, they do.

Just got both my Kids Nexus cards in the mail. One was a renewal, other was new. Both had to do the two appointment (Canada/USA) verification. Although it says you need to book an appointment, if you show up and they aren't busy they will put you through. Found this out after we had a missed connection in Toronto and did my daughters Canadian interview since we had time to kill. Biggest hold up in all of it was that you had to be travelling to the US to do the US part of the interview.

do you need to have an interview in both US and Canada side as that's what my wife's coworker was telling too, but reading the email looks like just one Nexus interview in either US or Canada. that's all I could book on the U.S. Customs and Border Protection website.

    There are a couple options:
    https://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/services...ntres-eng.html
    https://www.cbp.gov/travel/trusted-t...llment-arrival

We also just did the US part of our toddlers interview in Feb while travelling to the US.
