Calgary has been on this for a few months now. Glad it’s going elsewhere as Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto treat nexus like it’s nothing.
    lolwut

I flew out of terminal D in calgary last week, took the nexus security line, and those mouth breathers even made me take off my belt (in addition to taking my laptop out of my bag).

This may be the path forward in theory, but I'd give it another 6 months before all of the CATSA idiots actually implement it correctly.

    6 months is generous.

Just put in an Application for my kid. Clock starts today lol
Anddd Conditional approval granted today, was able to schedule the first half of the interview (CBSA) for week after next at YYC ( thought that was pretty quick ). 8ish months.

Apparently I can do the second half (US CBP) any time I am flying with her to the US so will get that taken care of in November.

TBH I expected a lot worse.

Also pretty comical that we instigated this rigamarole by banning CBP from having service sidearms in Canada. Pathetic.

Anyone on here do the split interview thing? Sounds like I just need to talk to someone in the pre clearance area where you meet CBP on the way to the US? Just say "Hi I want a Nexus Card Please" or something? Haha

I haven't done the US portion yet, but doing it in November on trip to Denver. My flight is 6:20 am...apparently they open 4:30AM and can do interview then. Not too sure, would love someone to explain it a bit more.

Did the people on the Canadian side have anything to say?

The whole interview thing should be a nothing burger for me my 2 year old lol, and both mom and dad are nexus holders.

Who's that member who said that driving to sweetgrass was less hassle? Do they still do the combined interview there?

Unless I missed something, Sweetgrass wasn't an option that was presented to me.

Agree to disagree that driving to sweetgrass and back with a 2 year old is less hassle than going to the airport twice, the second time when I would have been going anyway.

Well for anyone who is interested. Did the second half of the interview. Basically when you go through US customs as usual you say “I want to do a nexus interview” to the agent. Give them your passID. And they fits on a computer for 10 minutes then take your picture.

    Approved.

    Definitely beats driving to sweetgrass.

How could anything beat driving to Sweetgrass? The mind fairly boggles.

If I'm flying direct to Mexico next month is there a way that I can sneak over to US customs to get this done or do I specifically have to fly to the US to get it done?

No, you need to "go past us customs" which means, technically, entering the USA, where thier Norse rgaurds carry guns and can shoot you under USA laws. That ain't happening without a confirmed flight landing in the USA.

Yea you need to actually go as far as talking to a legit US customs agent on your way to try US to do it.

Yes this was in Calgary. I thinly he rationale is if you don’t go to the US often enough that this works out then you aren’t a good nexus candidate.

Did you make an appointment previous to this or just ask on the off-chance?

Might think about doing this next time I go through, but I haven't even applied yet so probably not going to be ready for a while

For the second part you just show up. The first interview you have to have an appointment in the airport with the Canadian folks in the Nexus office, and the second part is when going through US customs. You have 5 years to do both interviews from the moment you are conditionally approved.

I am doing my USA side in two weeks for my work trip to Denver.
