Just wondering if anyone knows where to get a butane torch cheap, ones that will attach to the butane canisters for portable gas stoves?

    Like the green propane canisters?

The standard soldering ones fit those... There is manual light and electric, Home Depot, lowes, Rona, etc should all have them

Only butane options I have seen are those mini torches you can get at CT in the tools section, but you fill them with the butane

I bought one of these from Hendrix Food equipment earlier this year for about $50, about the same as amazon.ca

can't seem to find this one on their website now though. They're $25 on amazon.com

The Iwatani canisters look just like the ones for hot pot stoves, except they have a little notch in the lip at the top.

You can buy knock off ones like this
    https://www.amazon.ca/Xcellent-Globa.../dp/B00LBVNC6G
    or this
    https://www.amazon.ca/Vktech-Ignitio.../dp/B00RYTN6SI

sometimes as cheap as $6... but do you really want to do that with flames and compressed gases inside your house?

I have this one and it works great! I bought it after seeing a chef at Roku use the exact same one. Good enough for a restaurant, good enough for me.
