Thoughts on how to repair a cut leather seat?

So it turns out the car I bought has a nice neat slice in the lower face of the rear leather seat.

Any thoughts on the best way to fix this?

I suppose if I was really careful I might be able to get a piece of thin glue-backed material in behind the leather -- although it seems to be a bit tricky to do.

I think that is the only way you'd achieve something with some level of strength.

I also found out that one of the best adhesives to use is good ol' white school glue. I repaired a jacket some 3 years with this method, and the repair hasn't even begun to give. And since you are using easy-to-remove adhesive, even if you get a little on the face of the seat, it is super easy to get rid of.

I had the same thing with an IS300. CR Techniques is who I went to. and the cut out the dead parts and just flat out replaced the pieces, that's the best solution:

Cost me $180 or $280 with materials for the repair. John at CR. Techniques replaced that piece for me.

Yeah super impressive. The leather was so torn and dry, there wasn't anything that could be done cept for flat out replacing that one panel.

Hey Neb,

I always notice the things wrong with the car once I buy it so I know the feeling XD

but for your leather repair BokChoy had a good suggestion if your willing to spend the money there won't be a repair in the world that will match that. it's kind of like touch up paint or repainting the panel

That being said I've seen videos of old cracked leather being puttied over and then spray painted to match the colour and looks pretty smooth and fixes the problem for around a year or maybe few years till the paint would start to fade

another option would be to have a leather piece and glue it (maybe JB weld would make a strong glue?) and then you know it wont get worst atleast
