Default IS350 vs Q50 vs TLX

These are the 3 cars I may be shopping for the next family vehicle.

Anyone have some good advice on the pros and cons on them?

    in a quick snap shot

    some rough numbers including GST/fees

    IS350 AWD Fsport3 - 54k
    TLX SHAWD tech - 49k
Q50 AWD red sport -59k (<-- I figure the only reason I would think about this one is for the 400hp twin turbo v6)

some of you may say 10k price swing between the TLX and Q50 is a bit of a stretch and I agree but I am very curious to understand where it fits comparing to the other two.

    most are virtually loaded.

And yes the Q50 red is more money but is it worth it.

right now Lexus has the better deal with the 3k factor rebate. Until I go test drive them and see their offers, I probably shouldnt give the advantage to Lexus just yet.

if you have driven and owned one of them, your comments are much appreciated it.

update: well picked up a '16 IS300 AWD fsport3 package.

at the end of the day, it was a deal I couldnt refuse and my wife fell in love with the ML audio.

If you can afford the Infiniti why wouldn't you? You don't want to be stuck with a boring gutless Toyota/Honda

IS 350 for family vehicle? No thanks. I don't know about TLX or Q50 but the interior of IS were just not meant to carry family unless you have new born or kid under 5.
I'd go for Q50 if you could afford it.

    Space TLX

    Looks IS

    A compromise of 2 and 400hp, Q50.

Especially they have almost $5K on the hood for the Q50 or almost 0% lease. Seems like a good deal too.

Yeah, Q50 was already pretty nice interior wise, but the choice of 300 or 400hp is pretty nice.

    1. Q50 - Best bang for the buck, looks, power

    2. IS350 - Looks, reliability, resale value, refinement

    3. Acura TLX - Looks

Yeah well I wonder how they get the soft flowing caramel inside the Caramilk bar but you don't see me making a god damn thread about it. Slap your wife Baygirl, straighten him out.

Q50 has horrible steering with that system they use.. TLX is nice but a little bland. I have one friend that has a TLX and another friend that has a IS350 F sport

IMO the IS350, is the best drivers car. Longitudinal mounted engine. It is also the lightest.. It has the driving characteristics of a RWD vehicle. The brakes are nice, power is good.

Edit: Here is a good comparison of the Q50 vs IS
    http://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars...-65-3-roa1013/

Keep in mind that it has the older engine with less power but more power does not necessarily mean a better car.

^^I think you only get direct adaptive steering (Q50) if you get the tech package, only issue is the tech package has a bunch of other features too.

IS350 is small for a family vehicle, and boring af to drive with that engine IMHO.

Q50 Red would be by far the best combination of size & power I think. Plus it's good value.

Your road and track review isnt' the Q50 red sport - the red sport is quite a different car, steering included IIRC. The reviews I've read (and people I've spoken with that have driven it) say the red sport is a much better drive, and the steering isn't as bad.

Anyways, Silverrex, I'd absolutely go infiniti if you want a bit of driving fun. If you don't care as much about a drivers car, go for the TLX. It will probably run forever and retain it's value relatively well.

any other manufacturers in a similar price range with the same power/feature as the Q50 for a more direct comparison?

Fully loaded $60K with $5K cash back.

Germans will all start at $55K and fully loaded around $72K-$75K.

1000lb heavier, not much more power. It's a cruiser. Even if price and spec sheet is similar after $8K discount.

    Q50 gets my vote.

The IS is super small for a family vehicle. We looked at it and the doors wouldn't fit our rear facing car seat easily. The TLX is decent enough in size, but fairly boring to drive as mentioned previously.

If you're OK without a full load, I think you can get a C450/C43 for not much more. I think they are smaller though, if that is a concern as a family hauler. That would be my choice in that range personally if buying new - the drive is amazing. Then again if I was spending close to $70K I would go buy a 2014 Audi S6 Much faster and much better suited for family use.

Q50 isn't really that much bigger than C450/C45. 1/2" wheelbase and may be a tiny bit wider. They felt virtually the same inside.

Not sure if SilverRex is trying to stay under $60k.... I see some mention of $70k, so here's my take:

For $70k you can also get a 2014 / 2015 / 2016 Audi A7 full load More spacious than any of your options and has a 3.0 L supercharged V6 that makes for a fun drive. Huge upgrade in fit and finish compared to a Q50.

Not sure if you only want to buy new.

With some negotiating you could probably get it for under $70k.

If youre not planning on keeping the vehicle past its warranty, then the Germans might not be a bad idea.
