Ok, so here's something new... Is jaywalking (or crossing wherever you want) in a playground zone allowed?
They opened up that new school in New Brighton, and activated the new playground zones, it's been a gong show. I usually take it easy and have a "whatever" approach, I'm not in a rush, I'll stop for people crossing that aren't in intersections.
I regularly see people jaywalk, and usually they stop and let the cars pass when they aren't using a crosswalk or intersection.
Anyways, today, I'm driving , turn left at the 3 way stop, and I'm proceeding doing 30km/h and keeping an eye out for kids that may run through the vehicles parked to the right (sometimes they run out, so gotta pay attention).
Some dude, coming from the other side (crossed the road on the side to my left, went across the center grass divider), carrying a baby, just runs out in front of my car. I had to slam on my brakes.
Anyways, buddy put's his hand out to stop me, I roll down my window and he starts yelling that since it's a playground zone, vehicles have to stop no matter where for pedestrians, he was so angry he looked like he was ready to hit my car.
Anyways, I told him he was wrong, he has to use crosswalks, this just made him angrier, I just eventually let it go (I didn't want to cause a stink in front of tons of people, with kids being around, and in the remote possibility I was in the wrong).
So just curious, are pedestrians allowed to run across and cross wherever they want since it's a playground zone (again we weren't even close to an intersection)?
Map below (red line is where he ran across the road):
I'm going to feel like an idiot if I was in the wrong...
