    Default Public Mobile

I didn't see this posted on here so I thought I would throw up a PSA about Public Mobile. The currently have a pretty decent fall promotion if you aren't already on a contract. I just left my grandfathered Rogers plan to get this. Hopefully there isn't a catch and this isn't a bait and switch! Public Mobile works on the TELUS network unlike something like WIND, but I suspect the data might be slightly slower.

It is $120 for 3 months of unlimited PROVINCE wide talk, global text and 12 gigs of data (12 gigs for you to use over 3 months so average 4 gigs a month).

All the details you could ever want are over in this thread on RedFlagDeals.http://forums.redflagdeals.com/publi...-25th-2050037/

I've been with them for about 3 months now. So far I've got better service than Rogers (no more dead zones in my house). Speeds are just as good as Telus. I just ran a speed test and I'm at 32 down 6 up. With LTE. From what I understand, the catch is no roaming in the states(data/talk/text?), and no dedicated customer service (all service is through the forum).

The idea with the plan is that it's a 3 month contract that auto renews. If you sign up for pre auth, your bill is effectively 38 a month. A couple of other incentives to run your bill down too, like loyalty years. Also if you get the provincial plan you can pick up an 8 dollar 200 minute long distance add on that doesn't expire until you run out of minutes and carries over.

If you aren't in a contract, definitely look into this . I was with Rogers for 10 years. Also there is a referral system, not trying to peddle it, but if you referred 38 people and as long as they stuck with public mobile, your bill would effectively be 0 dollars. (Maybe tax still). Oh and I was on the 2/6gb plan and upgraded to the 4/12gb promo with no issues.

TLDR: I was a longtime Rogers customer that switched and couldn't be happier and actually pay less and receive a better service overall.

Telus bought PM a few years ago. From what I've read they have no stores and everything is done through their forum and online. Looks like a pretty good deal.

I ordered a SIM last Friday, received it yesterday and set it up last night.

So far no noticeable difference in service, speed test has said between 20-30 mbps download and around 10 mbps upload anytime I have run it. I had been a long time Bell customer (~5 years) and called them up to see what loyalty plans they could offer, and none came close to Public Mobile.

So basically it's Telus/Bell for $40/month. The question is, once you go with the 90 plans, can they kick you off or pull the offer?

Wonder if this is to counter LTE network being deployed by WIND right now.

It's a telus subsidiary with full LTE support.

There's a 200+ page discussion on redflagdeals, I don't know if I'm allowed to post links here or not

Public is pretty good regarding grandfathering, they haven't raised prices on their previous offers

You can check your IMEI here to see if your phone will work on their network.

If I wasn't on a Zoomer contract I would switch. Really good deal.

Well looks like the gravy train is over. Apparently Public Mobile offers new 3G data plans while increasing 4G prices. I didnt even know you were allowed to charge differently? Such a load of corporate bullshit.

So my current plan (province + unlimited text+ 6GB) is $120, to get that now is $180.
Even to get the same package with 3G is now $141.
I know its just Telus but I had such high hopes for Public...

That's how Freedom rolls (after Shaw bought out Wind)
All the existing plans pre-LTE will only get non-LTE service. Subscribe to a new LTE Ready plan and to get our ARPU up pls.
