I suddenly feel like I am being severely misled by using Trip Advisor for other destinations to figure out what to do.

I recently got taken here and enjoyed it...:

Loose Moose Theatre is good for some cheap improv comedy (~$15/ticket). Out of the 15ish times I've been I think a couple of times were so-so, the rest of the times I was laughing my ass off. Go for dinner downtown first to make a night of it.
Flying Squirrel trampoline park is a blast and a freakin' workout.
This is for music enthusiasts.
I do a cool jam at a blues bar in Sunalta called Mikey's Juke Joint in Sunalta. It's a jam called "Groove Theory Calgary". It's every Thursday and it's basically a jam where artists and musicians from the indie, urban, soul, jazz, blues and pop scene just jam. Think "the roots sessions". It's mostly improvised and I book different bands every week. I got a facebook and a Instagram hashtag going on. Check it out:

this weeks in the indie rock edition of our jam hosted by Free the Cynics
Oh and cool people have showed up to it. Like Janet Jackson's band, Divine Brown, The Lion King People, Shawn Hooks band etc etc
I used to live essentially across the street from Mikey's and loved going there! Good food and a great time.
