    Default C_Dave45's own kitchen Reno

While not as impressive as Buster's reno, his was instrumental in me finally upgrading our own kitchen. The results of Greg's painting at Buster's convinced me to do the same with mine. All the oak cabinets and wainscoting will get painted white, along with all new hinges and pulls for the cabinets.

    Edit: Finished Project:

Today, the edge pieces will go on. I'll make the cutout for the sink as well

Man, that stuff looks awesome. Is it marble, or granite?

also: props to that boombox. That thing is no joke.

Haha...yes that is a beast. Has fantastic sound.

That stuff is porcelain. 3'x10' sheets. 5.6mm thick full-bodied porcelain. Comes in almost every conceivable finish and look.

Nice! What's the cost per sq/ft and how do you plan to finish the edges?

Roughly $45/sf, installed. Depends on the material though. Prices vary quite a bit.

The edges are being done today. I cut 2" strips and match the grain (taken out of the "cut-offs" from the top pieces) and attach them to the face. The edges can be mitred and epoxied, but I chose to use a metal profile Schluter edge to give the porcelain a little more protection. A bare mitred edge is prone to being chipped if you smack it with a heavy pot.

I am? lol. When do I get my cheque?

Truth be told there are no Schluter® products in this build. The profile trim I'm using is some 3rd party vendor that Stone Tile sells. Don't even know who's it is.

"Schluter" is loosely used as a noun to describe many different products. Like "A skidoo" when talking about any snow mobile.

Lol...Dont be jelly. My reno is more of a "poor mans" reno. I'd much rather have the real Quartz or Granite tops. But this stuff I can do it myself. Plus most of the cost is in Labour. And my wife knows a good tileguy who will work for food

Looks good Dave. I'd like to see a cheap under cabinet LED lighting pack from Costco to remove those dark areas. Makes a world of difference for $50.

How much does labor typically cost to replace a kitchen sink like that?

Looking forward for the cabinet refinishing! My parents have to do theirs, so this would be a nice summer project for us

How are you planning to refinish the cupboards? Lacquer?

You read my mind. Wife and I were just talking about LED lighting.

I really don't know. I'll ask my plumber. Labour isn't much though. Probably 2 hours tops to install the taps. Plumbers don't usually install the undermount sinks though.
    It's the fixtures that cost.

Yup. All the cabinets and wainscoting will be lacquered white. Greg from Straight Edge Painting just picked up my fronts for spraying this morning.
Hoping to be done by next week.

Does it have to be sanded or just straight spray? Curious what the process is if it's different.

I actually would like to replace my sink with something like yours for a Christmas present to myself.
