There's quite a lot of prep work for spraying lacquer for oak. My small kitchen will be roughly 8-man days or more.
I might attempt to paint my walls, but I would never ever attempt to spray lacquer on kitchen cabinets and wainscoting myself.

Hoping to be done by next week.
Did the same earlier this year on similar cupboards. End product looks great. Whiter than we wanted which takes away from our counters but we were paranoid that under tones might show through if we went with something off white.

It was a bigger job then expected as we had did our bathrooms and laundry room also. Lacquer stinks!!!

    Looking forward to seeing pics!

Edit- Ours were maple, still required lots of prep. My painter put in well over 8 days but it looks like glass. After using a similar sprayer to his to spray my doors, casings etc with latex I would never attempt my own cupboard doors.

pretty much the norm for contractors from what i've seen

half finished projects, behind on renovations/repairs at their own homes meanwhile doing amazing work for their clients...funny how that works

anyways good luck on this project, interested in seeing the finished product!

    So true!
Last thing I feel like doing at 8 o'clock at night or through the weekend is more tile after being on my knees slinging tile all week.

Threw on the counter top fronts last night. Note the veins!

    Looks great.
My only comment is that the green and gold isn't 70s. I'd say late 90s.
Parent's had that exact same setup up to a year ago when they reno'd.

Doh....you're right. I just noticed that. I was thinking about when the house was built, freudian slip. It was reno'd back in the 90's with the Oak and green.

In my reno, the huge pain in the ass factor of the lacquer spray was the biggest surprise for me. Holy shit, it turned my house into a toxic waste dump.

THIS! is the exact same countertop my kitchen has, ahha

Mine is greenish with the little honey oak corners.

I also have honey oak wraped around the base units.

The worst part of that lacquer shit is it is like drywall dust, but worse.

    Get out your shopvac.

The counters looks good. My kitchen looks very similar to yours (i.e. stuck in the 90's). I'm interested to see the outcome of the cabinets after you get them sprayed.

My guy did some spraying in my garage- I actually had to dust the garage this spring. Dust everywhere. Never thought I would have to dust my garage......

House was kept OK with poly.

Could you not soda blast the cabinets then refinish? Or is that too abrasive? Anyone attempt this?

When our guys lacquered our basement cabinets, our fire / CO detectors kept going off randomly. I assumed some of lacquer was causing interference with 1 or more of the sensors. Ended up needing to get them replaced on both floors since they're linked.

We had those some ish cabinets.

We sanded for a week straight everyday. Ended up going through a company in Calgary to build us brand new doors with quality soft close hinges for a hair over $1000.

Now that I know that I will never sand shit again.
