    Default BMW M3 Question

Driving to work on MacLeod Trail this morning I saw a nice black M3. Looked new and had a really aggressive/wide rear wheel arch. I don't think it was aftermarket but I don't know for sure. I think I saw a similar white one all done up at the Illmotion show. I admit I haven't followed the M3 generations since the mid 2000's and have no clue what can be bought stock for them. I went online and can't find a decent picture that shows a similar car. Most of the behind shots don't show any fender flares at all. The car had a bump in the hood if that helps. I am assuming it's an F90 and the back said M3 - it was a sedan.

Anyone care to enlighten me? Is there a factory widebody option? The cars I see online don't look as flared but maybe it's just the difference between pictures and real life. There were no obvious stuck on flares on this car. They looked factory which has got me curious.

F90 is a 5 series... F80 is what you want... did it look more flared than this?

Hard to tell. I know the back looked really wide, and I can see in that picture how the rear wheel is flared. I've seen other pictures of them from the side and back and the wheel well looks more flat. Could be like that but just looks bigger at certain angles I guess

Yeah, probably the way the light grabs it in photos making the biggest difference

One thing to note is that between the M3 and M4 the M3's arches are far more pronounced than the M4's.

Maybe that's why it stood out to you as the M4 is imo quite a bit more common of the new generation.

So I was just driving behind an m4... I think what it is could be the wheels... the stock ones are pretty sunk and it give the car a pretty normal behind... but like the picture I post with them spaced out it looks much wider

both the F80 M3 and F82 M4 have big sexy hips... the M3 achieves it from the fender flares and the whole rear of the M4 + fender flares make it differnet from the non M counter parts

And a i agree aftermarket rims with wider tires make a huge differnece to accent the sexy hips

My short term goal is to get a 2015+ m3, just a gorgeous car. Has the right angles and wide body look to it, not as wide as the b7 rs4 but still good.

Was the M3 lowered or factory height? Because if the fenders flared, I'm thinking the owner put a LB kit on it

Wasn't crazy like the LB kit. I'm thinking it was stock but lowered with big wheels. Like this car:

That's the basic graphite; you should scope out some of "Grigio" custom ordered M's.

I know this for my next order, rookie mistake...Although the Austin Yellow is growing on me

Lo Pro, your car looks deadly, the CF additions are amazing.

Looked up the Grigio, nice, but still fan of the basic graphite

    They do stock!!!

With the right system they sound pretty damn good and I'm coming from 2 ISF's and an RCF and the glorious V8 whail...

I've got a custom built ARK catback that has gone through 3 renditions to get rid of the garbled lawnmower sound. The cold start was embarrassing when I first bought the car.

    Thanks for the compliments gents!

Edit: Found a couple videos right after the last modifications to the system. Sounds better as it heats up but definitely not the "rocks in a garburator" sound any more

    What winter?

Yup, just mounted my Hakka 8 studded last week which are completely overkill and quite possibly the most annoying tires in the world... until the snow hits
