Hello Ontario-level prices.....this is what happens when you try to fix something that isn't broken

It'd be better if they re-regulated insurance.
We have absurdly low power rates, I don't see that changing with the cost of natural gas being so low for the next forever.
This, still dealing with 3 (soon to be 4) insurance companies because a guy hit my car last year (his insurance company, my insurance company, my old benefits provider, soon my new benefits provider).Originally posted by kertejud2

The amount of damage this is going to do will be stupendous.

All I can do is shake my head, it is almost like they know they have no hope of ever being elected again so they want to rush through as much of their ideological policy as they can before they get booted out...Originally posted by suntan

918 days to go.
If you wanted a concrete example of how the NDP have no understanding of economics, here it is.
Is this for real? Have you lived in BC, dealt with ICBS and hear people constantly complaing about piss poor service, coverage and having to subsidize the bad drivers??Originally posted by kertejud2

Do you have any idea how insanely expensive it is? For me a POS truck worth about 2000$ cost me 1200$ a year (highest discounts, no accidents etc.) Here, it immediately dropped to 400$.

If you do something stupid like provide massive unsustainable subsidies for "green" power on the back of natural gas then yeah watch the prices soar... That's essentially how Ontario ended up in the position they are in.Originally posted by HiTempguy1

We should build nuclear plants frankly but science is hard and the green energy dream is built on good feelings/pixie dust.
You are talking about the same guy that loves the idea of bike lanes running through the middle of high traffic areas instead of roads. Stripping a stupid idea from BC and bringing it to Alberta is kind of his forteOriginally posted by revelations

The current Enmax rate is 3.8cents/kWh, with peak this year at 8.2cents/kWh.
The lock in rate is 6.59cents/kWh for 3 years or 6.79cents/kWh for 5 years.
Anyone locking in?

Why doesn't Notley listen to her buddy Wynne?
Ontario advises other provinces to avoid its ‘mistake’ and keep an eye on hydro bills as coal phased out.

I'm surprised there's no poor people subsidy plan to go along with this.

Locked in contracts almost never benefit the consumer. My wife used to work for a utility and it was well known that you should never sign up for a contract.Originally posted by phreezee

Although with all the uncertainty, and the government willing to change legislation and sue city owned utility companies, you never know...
Everybody here is a fiscal conservative until it comes to roads.Originally posted by ickyflex

Argh, so Notley promised to cap at 6.8cents/kWh for 4 years starting 2017! http://edmontonjournal.com/news/poli...-energy-prices
No point in locking in. At the end of the day, since we pay the government, we will eat the costs.
