    Default Landmark Cinemas

Oh man best movie experience ever. You lay back on those recliners like first class reserved seating.

Just watched hacksaw ridge what a great movie.

Anyway. I don't think I can watch a movie in a normal setting again. This is a game changer.

Anyone else feel the same way lol

Those seats are absolutely amazing. By far the most comfortable movie experience.

All theaters or specifics ones? Extra cost like Cineplex?

Landmark is changing the movie experience for sure...cineplex needs to follow and upgrade their disgusting seats in half their theaters. I have exclusively went to landmark since their upgrade.

We always go to Landmark to avoid Chinook Ciniplex... Can't wait for Seton theaters to open, booze to the seats

Yup. I refuse to experience movies any other way since I went to Landmark 16. The seats are great, I can bring a blanket. But the best part is how much room you get around you. It's impossible for anyone to kick your seat. It also feels a little more intimate with only 60-80 people watching a movie at any given time.

And if anyone has Atom, it's an even better experience.

    I discovered this a year and a half ago ( Thread ).
At the time, it was only 1 or 2 theatres that had reservable seating. That in itself was a game changer. No more having to show up 45 minutes before screen time and fight for a good seat. But those reclining leather seats, large cup holder...I won't go to a theatre without them.
Has definitely brought my family back to the theatre. We pretty much stopped going as it was always just an experience in annoyance.

I love showing up 1 minute before screen time, finding someone in the best seats in the house and saying "excuse me...those are my seats!"

In my linked-to thread, there are two specific seats we always choose. Has the railing in front of you (for the wheel chair spots) and it's a perfect foot rest. Combine that with reclining seats....!!

Only problem now is staying awake!!

Cineplex has the same: It's the "Ultra AVX" experience:

Introducing the incredible UltraAVX theatre from Cineplex. Featuring:

Immersive Sound – Featuring Dolby® Atmos ™ at selected locations
Stunning Picture on a massive screen
Reserved Seating in Larger Rocker seats

Cineplex has the same: It's the "Ultra AVX" experience:

Had the seats with the rails in front last time, definitely prime ones. The AVX seats are better than usual Cineplex, but come nowhere close to the landmark ones

havent been to Ultra AVX in the past couple of months but I doubt it compares to the reclining seats in Landmark.

heard about reclining seats for a while, we just never bothered going as we live close to Cross Iron mall, but willing to endure the extra stop lights to get to Landmark for better seats

I am surprised Calgary still hasn't gotten Cineplex VIP because Edmonton has had it for well over a year now. Haven't tried Landmark, will have to compare how the seats and experience compares. In VIP they bring food to you and everything.

Tried Landmark reclining seat for the 1st time. Total converted. Cineplex will not get any more of my business until they come up with better product.

Same price as AVX, way better seats.

    Landmark costs:
    General recliner: $13.25
    3D recliner: $16.25
    3D IMAX: $18.25

All of Landmark recliner seating is reserved.

    Cineplex costs:
    Regular admission, non-reserved: $13.25
    AVX General, reserved seating: $16.25
    AVX 3D, reserved: $18.25
    IMAX 3D: $20.25
    3D BOX, reserved seating: $24.25

Personally, I love the Landmark theatres, the seats are amazing and very comfortable, especially for those with back problems. Tons of space around you. I recently went to see Storks and it was packed with kids, the seat beside me had 2 kids in it, no older than 7, they both fit in there perfectly...2 for 1 ticket for the parents
What kind of birdhouse can you build with popsicles, roofies, and a rubber mallet?

Landmark is actually cheaper... edit: Lady Luck beat me to it.

I actually prefer the cineplex popcorn though, I think landmark is over salted and they use less of their oil mixture which takes away flavor albeit healthier.

You're in for a treat next time you go, the seats are well worth the drive. You're not too far from the Country Hills one at least. Its double the drive for me to go to Landmark over Cineplex and I'd do it in a heartbeat.

on the popcorn, the Coke drink machines at Landmark help make up for it though.

Do they not rip/check tickets when you go in?

Reserved seating is pretty much a must unless the movie has been out for a couple weeks and going on a normal day.

The recliners are just so money. Sometimes the body just wants to stretch and what not and can't exactly do that in a normal seat.

they do up in Country Hills.
might be a good idea though as child seat is usually cheaper than an adult, so they'll make more money if they put an adult on the available seat

I don't see the recliner option for Shawnessy, so maybe not upgraded yet.

AFAIK they do rip the tickets, so not sure how that mom pulled it off but all the seats were filled.

Also, IIRC when purchasing tickets you can not leave 1 seat empty in a row, as in...if there's only 4 seats left and you need 3, it won't let you select them unless you take all 4.
