Any recommendations for good places to check for hot sauces? Any specialty spots in the city?
And on top of this, any recommendations for good hot sauces?

Blackfoot flea market.
I just can't tolerate much heat so it's been a few years but if these guys are still running online they had some good stuff:

Blackfoot flea market.
+1 for Blackfoot, probably the biggest.
The grocery store in Eau Claire market I think has a decent selection.
Joycee's Carribean Foods has good stuff too.
Ultracrepidarian
http://hungryvolcano.com/ Located in Westwinds area (NE). I find the Alberta Crude to be a delicious BBQ flavored hot sauce.
Also, Sunterra Market downtown has a nice little selection, only place I've ever found to buy Dave's Insanity sauce.
I like the scorpion pepper sauce from lowes
I'll agree with blackfoot.Originally posted by msommers

The eau Claire one however, that's hit and miss. They sell a huge ~1L bottle of Valentina for $13, then something ridiculous like $11 for the smallest Cholula/Tapatio ones, which I found in the US were all the same prices regardless of the 3 brands, why the 2 latter are so expensive up here? Who knows.
Thanks for the info guys, will check out the Blackfoot market this weekend.
UniMarket on 50th Ave SE sells these brands as well as a few others (I'm sure the Edmonton Trail location does too), according to their website $6.50 for 5 oz bottle of Cholula, $3.50 for 10oz Tapatio, $4.50 for 1L Valentina. Check them out, they are reasonably priced for a lot of things.Originally posted by n1zm0

Thanks for this. Definitely gonna go check out the Edm Tr store, I'm currently obsessed with the black label Valentina. 1L for $4.50 is just insaneOriginally posted by bh87

Hey baller, any problem money can solve is no problem at all. Don't sweat it.
thanks, I knew that the whole jacked up price was absurd for what most Americans consider run of the mill hot sauce but had nowhere else that I knew of to find this stuff.Originally posted by bh87

Valentina and Cholula are both sold at Sobeys/Safeway.
Went to Some like it hot in the blackfoot market today, great guys, lots of testers to try out including one Carolina reaper sauce... To which I passed on as I had done a ghost pepper taster already haha.
Wide wide variety from mild to insane sauces along with bbq sauces and wing sauces as well.
Bought 4 bottles and will be a repeat customer for sure.
