Default Horseradish! Anyone growing their own?

Would like to plant some in the spring, wondering if anyone grows it and would let me take a shoot?

I grow it (but I am in Winnipeg).

Keep in mind that it is a perennial and can take over a chunk of your garden if you aren't careful.

Best to grow it in an area where it doesn't have much room to spread.

Yupp, been growing my own for a number of years now. You're welcome to have a whole bunch in the spring but I would suggest growing it in a container like a 45 gallon plastic drum buried in your garden because it is very, very aggressive. Even the tiniest bit of root is quite capable of starting a new plant somewhere else. Roots will go down as far as three feet.

The really great thing is you can make your own horseradish condiments and make them as hot as you would like, the only horseradish I've had that is as hot as our homemade is some of the stuff you can get in the occasional restaurant. Store bought, that's for wimps. Just be aware that the fumes horseradish puts out when being processed will blow any cut onion away, can be difficult to even breathe when in the prep area.
    Will fuck off, again.

When grating your own it is best just to take the food processor outside on a cool windy day.

    that's awesome, thanks guys.

I grew up on homegrown/homemade horseradish, and its amazing strong! once you've had that store bought is a waste of time.....

good advice to plant it in a container. I have some unused corners of yard that I don't mind it taking over also.

Just dug up a bunch of roots and have way more than I'll need - anyone want some for their own uses?

edit: have almost a kilogram of fresh root after it's all been cleaned up - one of you must want to do a horseradish crusted prime rib roast.

Have more than shown in this picture...
