Default Cell phone in the US

Can't seem to find the info from my provider.
I have an S5 locked to Bell. I'm under no contract, just month to month.
Can I unlock the phone and then buy a US sim card and use the phone as a US phone down here? (Currently in Phoenix) any preferred providers? Gotta be cheaper than these stupid roaming packages, no? I've dropped $100 and only been here 3 days.

Bell doesn't have a $5/day package where you get to use your phone like you're in Canada?

    Said this many times before.

    Go to T-Mobile and buy a wi-if hotspot. It's around $100

$10 gets you 1Gb of data for 7 days. Turn on your wi-if calling and phone calls and texts are "free" las if you are back in Calgary.

No need to unlock your phone. No need to pay $5/day. You receive every phone call like you are at home.

The biggest benefit is that all your devices can use the $10 plan instead of paying $5/day per phone.

    Going for a month? $30 for 3GB.

Thats the Roam Better package and it only gives you 100mb per day. I tried adding that and it says it wouldnt work with my device?? Maybe a glitch. But thats not enough data for me. Next package was a gb of data and unlimited text/calls for $80. Well I hit the Gb last night. So had to buy another 200 mb's for $20 for today.
I've got no wifi access where I'm staying.

In la right now. Using the 5$ roam better from bell. Used 20mb using Waze/google maps to get around. 5 $ extra for another 100 my if I go over. I didn't think 100mv would be enough either. But I do have access to wifi in random places.
